What youll be doing:
The Math & Science Instructor reports to the Skills Training Manager and works closely with the Operations Coordinator, Program Facilitators/Instructors, and Curriculum & Learning team. This position will be required to deliver Math & Science curriculum to the Skills Training program participants and support their learning through 1-1 guidance. The instructors main objective is to prepare program participants to pass the Alberta Apprenticeship & Industry Training (AIT) entrance exam.
Major Responsibilities:
Curriculum Facilitation
Using the Momentum Math & Science Curriculum and Skill Plan, develop and deliver lessons plans to adequately prepare participants to:
o understand the math and science material suitable and needed in the field of training,
o become familiar with the Math & Science technical vocabulary needed in the field of training, and
o pass the apprenticeship entrance exam.
Participant Support
- Provide individual support to participants to learn concepts, answer questions, and develop skills.
- Monitor and communicate participant progress with Program Facilitator and collaborate to identify or provide additional support participants may need.

- Has excellent facilitation and tutoring skills, both online and in person. You are experienced in adult education principles and great at explaining math and science concepts in simple terms.

What you will need to do the job well:
- Degree or certification in education or relevant field or related experience.
- 3-5 years of experience as a teacher, instructor, facilitator, or tutor
- Experience working with individuals living on low incomes with multiple barriers.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and team building skills with a growth mindset.
- Strong organizational, problem-solving, planning, and attention to detail skills
- Technology literacy in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and internet systems.
- Experience using an online Learning Management System (ie: D2L Brightspace) for program delivery.
- Non-profit experience is an asset.
