Acara Solutions is seeking highly qualified candidates to work ON-SITE with our client in Cambridge, ON. Interested?
Here's what you'd do:
- The CNC Machine Setter is responsible for preparing CNC machines for operation by setting up tooling, fixtures, and parameters according to specific job requirements.
- This role ensures that CNC machines are correctly configured to produce high-quality parts and components as per design specifications, maintaining efficiency and accuracy in the production process.
- Install and adjust tools, fixtures, and machine settings based on production plans and technical drawings to set up CNC machines.
- Configure machine parameters such as speeds, feeds, and coolant flow to match the material and design requirements.
- Conduct test runs and make necessary adjustments to ensure machines are set up correctly before production begins.
- Interpret and work from engineering drawings, blueprints, and CAD models to determine the setup requirements.
- Select and install appropriate cutting tools and fixtures for each job.
- Ensure proper alignment and calibration of machine components to achieve precise machining results.
- Perform initial inspections of machined parts to verify accuracy and conformance to specifications.
- Utilize measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, and gauges to check part dimensions.
- Identify and troubleshoot setup-related issues, making adjustments to eliminate defects and improve quality.
- Maintain detailed records of machine setups, including tooling configurations and parameter settings.
- Document any changes or deviations from standard setups and report issues to supervisors.
- Keep accurate logs of production activities and part inspections.
- Perform routine maintenance on CNC machines to ensure they are in good working condition.
- Adhere to all safety protocols and procedures, ensuring a safe working environment.
- Maintain a clean and organized workspace, properly storing tools and equipment.
- Work closely with CNC operators, programmers, and engineers to optimize machine setups and improve production efficiency.
- Communicate effectively with team members to address setup issues and ensure smooth production flow.
- Provide guidance and support to CNC operators on machine setup and troubleshooting.
- Measuring tools and instruments, such as micrometers, verniers, callipers, height gauges or other specialized measuring instruments.

Pay: $25.00 - $27.00 / hr.
Hours: 40 hrs/Week.

Required Skills / Qualifications:

- Minimum of 5 years experience in reading and interpreting technical drawings and blueprints.

- Attention to detailed drawings relating to the product being manufactured.
- Constant awareness that manufacturing processes meet customer specifications.
- Industrial environment with many different processes/manufacturing occurring throughout the building; constant awareness towards safety measures at all times.
Additional Information:
- Upon offer of employment, the individual will be subject to a background check and a drug screen.
- Ability to lift and move heavy materials and equipment as needed.
- Stamina to stand for long periods and perform repetitive tasks.
- The role is typically performed in a manufacturing or machine shop environment, which involve exposure to noise, dust, and other industrial hazards.
- Proper safety equipment and protocols are mandatory.
- Walking, standing, sitting, kneeling, bending, and repetitive hand / wrist / finger / arm movements while using equipment in order to perform the job
- Manufacturing or workshop environment with exposure to loud noise, moving mechanical parts, and potential hazards.
- Personal Protective Equipment provided and be worn.
