Reporting to the VP of Project Management and Business Integration, the Project Manager/Business Analyst II leads a mix of project management and business analysis activities. This includes managing complex project scope, budget, and schedule, gathering and translating requirements, and conducting in-depth business process analysis. The role oversees a portfolio of projects, provides leadership to project teams, and supports managers and leaders in applying project management practices. They also promote and implement tools that enhance project and program delivery. Using professional experience and PMI best practices, this position helps drive outcomes aligned with ACU's strategic plan and values.

Key Accountabilities

Project Management: The PM/BA II is responsible for leading the planning, execution, and delivery of projects, ensuring they are completed on time, within budget, and aligned to scope. Key responsibilities include:

  • Managing scope, schedule, budget, and resources; defining milestones and dependencies; and monitoring project progress to resolve issues proactively.
  • Leading the development of project plans, assigning tasks, tracking key metrics, and maintaining governance documentation.
  • Delivering high-quality project communication (e.g., charters, status reports, change requests, decision logs) to stakeholders at all levels.
  • Providing leadership, coaching, and motivation to project team members, ensuring accountability for task completion, and independently resolving roadblocks without the need for escalation.
  • Ensuring effective risk and quality management overseeing smooth project transitions to operations, and ensuring post-implementation outcomes are measured and sustained.
  • Managing relationships with cross functional teams, third-party vendors, contractors, and regulatory bodies; ensuring adherence to contracts and escalating issues when necessary.
  • Supporting contract negotiations related to project delivery.
  • Producing and archiving all required project documentation in strict alignment with PMO standards, serving as a model for compliance during audits, while capturing lessons learned and driving continuous improvement of project management practices and tools.
  • Driving a culture of continuous improvement by mentoring other project managers withing the PMO and encouraging the adoption of best practices to improve project delivery.

Business Analysis: The BA portion of the role supports informed decision-making and efficient business processes through collaboration, analysis, and solution development. Responsibilities include:

  • Acting as a strategic advisor between business units, IT/Digital, and vendors to identify and deliver effective solutions.
  • Leads business process redesign initiatives and documents work products and deliverables.
  • Translating business needs into functional specifications and managing changes throughout the development lifecycle.
  • Supporting build-vs-buy decisions and facilitating user acceptance testing to validate that solutions meet expectations.
  • Engaging in stakeholder interviews and workshops to identify opportunities, document issues, and develop recommendations that improve performance and cost-efficiency.
  • Developing business process implementation plans and supporting change management for both local and remote teams.

Continuous Improvement

  • Responsible for identifying and driving continuous improvement opportunities in the business through reviews and assessments of current PMO processes.
  • Responsible for recommending changes that improve efficiency and/or quality of service; capitalizing on opportunities to achieve synergies and economies of scale.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

The competencies for the position would typically be acquired through a minimum of four to seven years of job related experience and a related degree or diploma. Post-secondary training would also include a recognized project management designation (PMP) and/or business analyst designation (CBAP) or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Practical, operational business experience and knowledge in the financial services sector is required. Formal certifications would be preferred.
