The Role

We are currently recruiting for an experienced Project Coordinator / Installation Work Package (IWP) / Field Installation Work Package (FIWP) Coordinator to support ongoing construction and maintenance activities at Kearl Oil Sands. This position plays a critical role in developing, distributing, managing IWP's and FIWP's to ensure safe, efficient and high quality field execution. This position will work a 14/14 rotation, 12 hours per day with charter flights provided from either Calgary or Edmonton with flight allowances based on the province located.

Key Duties/Responsibilities

IWP / FIWP Preparation:

  • Defining the scope of work for each package, including tasks, materials, and resources.
  • Creating detailed work instructions and diagrams, ensuring clarity and completeness.
  • Including safety requirements, quality control checks, and special instructions.

IWP / FIWP Distribution:

  • Ensuring that work packages are accurately and timely distributed to the field crews.
  • Provides guidance on the use of work packages.

IWP / FIWP Tracking and Management:

  • Monitoring the progress of work packages in the field.
  • Identifying and resolving any issues or delays that may arise.
  • Updating work packages as needed based on field conditions and feedback.

Communication and Coordination:

  • Serving as a point of contact for field crews and other stakeholders.
  • Communicating project progress and changes to relevant parties.
  • Collaborating with other project team members to ensure alignment and consistency.

Key Skills

  • Organizational Skills: Demonstrated ability to manage multiple concurrent work packages, prioritize tasks, and maintain accurate documentation.
  • Technical Knowledge: Solid understanding of construction processes, mechanical systems, materials, pre-commissioning and commissioning.
  • Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication abilities; capable of conveying complex information clearly to field crews and stakeholders.
  • Problem-Solving: Proactive approach to identifying and resolving field issues that could impact schedule or quality.
  • Attention to Detail: Thorough and meticulous in preparing and reviewing work packages for accuracy and completeness.
  • Certifications (Asset): Journeyperson certification in a Mechanical Trade is considered an asset.
Education/Work Experience Qualifications
  • Certified Engineering Technologist (CET) or Technologist in Training
  • Working towards a Professional Engineer (P.Eng) designation considered an asset
  • Project Management (PMP) designation considered and asset
  • 1 - 3 years of on-site project management experience in industrial, civil, mechanical or piping construction considered an asset
  • Proficient in the interpretation of engineered drawings, Isometrics, LDT's and P&ID's
  • Strong technical computer skills (Microsoft suite of products, Google Platform, Bluebeam, Excel/Google Sheets, CAD)
  • Valid driver's license
  • Looking for a self-motivated, hard working professional that can converse and build relationships with many different types of people quickly
  • Must be able to problem solve and work under pressure
  • Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug and alcohol test
  • Must be able to pass a pre-employment criminal background check
