Job description
The employee is responsible for performing the following tasks:
- Participate in the receiving of goods and evaluate the material received for quantity and possible damage; report any problems to the appropriate people
- Loads pallets of finished product into carrier trailers, either from stacks or directly from the plant.
- Completes loading charts and can read and understand delivery notes when receiving goods
- must complete bills of lading and customs paperwork
- Place pallets of product leaving the plant on the storage shelves
- verify the condition of the trailers
- is responsible for the maintenance and proper functioning of his equipment
- Checks the condition of the ground to avoid the possibility of punctures
- Repairs pallets of broken product
- participates in the remanufacturing of non-conforming product
- Ensures loading ramps are in good condition prior to use
- Collects wood scraps from storage boards
- occasionally takes samples of material
- Must learn to be self-directed and show initiative
- Performs any other duties as assigned by management
Required Qualifications
- be a conscientious employee with a high sense of responsibility
- have a grade 12 education or equivalent relevant experience
- be fluent in English
- willingness to work shifts
- be able to operate hydraulically controlled machines without the risk of damaging the equipment, property, product and/or vehicles around them
- be able to perform daily checks and maintenance on his/her machine
Maintenance and repairs
- perform daily checks on equipment such as oil level, air filter cleaning, tire condition, etc.
- ensure the greasing, cleaning and lubrication of the machines
Quality control
- ensure that pallets are properly arranged on the wood during storage
- take care not to damage the product
- check the quality of the pallets and their contents
- ensure quality when receiving goods
- ensure that the pallets loaded in the vans are in good condition: cleanliness, bags not torn, wrapping in good condition, etc.
Health and safety
- be concerned about safety at work
- attach the safety belt in his machine
- apply safety standards related to loading and unloading of trailers, including attaching chains to loading ramps and placing cones to demarcate one's route from the machining, if applicable
- Wear personal protective equipment applicable to the tasks performed
Performance
- Maintain an average loading rate of at least one load every 45 minutes while picking up lumber
- Follow the rhythm of the exit of the pallets from the mill
