Job Description

As a Digital Marketing Consultant, you will join the senior management team to lead and strengthen the organization's digital presence in alignment with Federation of Canadian Secondary Students (FCSS-FESC)'s mission and operational goals. Your primary responsibility will be to design and execute a comprehensive digital marketing strategy that enhances brand visibility, increases engagement across digital platforms, and supports organizational growth and sustainability. This role will also involve streamlining digital workflows, supporting internal documentation, and ensuring marketing efforts are scalable, efficient, and aligned with broader business functions.

Responsibilities and tasks

  1. Develop and implement multi-channel digital marketing strategies, including SEO, SEM, email marketing, content marketing, and social media, to drive awareness and engagement.
  2. Identify and analyze opportunities to align digital outreach with FCSS-FESC's goals, mission, and evolving program needs.
  3. Oversee the creation, curation, and optimization of digital content (blogs, social posts, videos, graphics) ensuring consistent branding and audience relevance.
  4. Create documentation and templates for repeatable content workflows to ensure consistency and reduce redundancies.
  5. Use tools like Google Analytics and platform insights to evaluate campaign effectiveness, track KPIs, and generate actionable reports for internal stakeholders.
  6. Manage content calendars and maintain an active, strategic presence across key social platforms to engage target audiences and build community
  7. Plan, write, and distribute a regular email newsletter to inform and engage stakeholders, highlighting key initiatives, updates, and opportunities within the organization.
  8. Contribute insights to financial planning, campaign budgeting, and ROI tracking for marketing initiatives.
  9. Present findings and implementation recommendations to the Board of Directors and senior management for consideration and approval.
  10. If of interest, lead a special project of your own design that improves the organization's communications strategy and marketing efforts
Qualifications

Mandatory Qualifications

This job will be part of the Canada Summer Jobs Program. As per the requirements of the program, youth hired need to meet the following criteria. Please ensure you review the below before applying:

  • be between 15 and 30 years of age at the start of the employment*;
  • be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act for the duration of the employment**; and,
  • have a valid Social Insurance Number at the start of employment and be legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial or territorial legislation and regulations.

*The youth must be 15 years of age at the beginning of the employment period. The youth may be more than 30 years of age at the end of the employment period as long as the youth was 30 at the beginning of the employment period.

**International students are not eligible participants. International students include anyone who is temporarily in Canada for studies and who is not a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person who has been granted refugee status in Canada. Youth awaiting a refugee status ruling, as well as those who hold a temporary visitor visa, youth visa or work visa are ineligible. As the objective of the Canada Summer Jobs program is to support youth entering the Canadian labour market, the temporary nature of an international student's time in Canada does not allow for a long-term connection to the labour market.

Ideal Qualifications

  • A post-secondary degree in business, marketing, public relations, communications, or a related field (either in-progress or completed).
  • Some experience doing graphic design, social media marketing, web design and/or video-editing (0.5 to 2 years).
  • Familiarity with the Canadian education system (0.5 to 2 years).
  • Experience producing high-quality written reports, guides, or tools for stakeholder audiences (1 to 4 years).
  • The ability to manage timelines independently and balance multiple tasks (1 to 4 years).
  • Clear and respectful communication skills with attention to inclusive and affirming language (1 to 4 years).

Additional Information
  • Work location: remote/from home
  • Hours: 35 hours per week (flexible scheduling)
  • Pay: $17.20 per hour
  • Contract: 8 weeks (start on 2 June 2025)
  • Number of positions: 1
