Partner Staffing on behalf of our Client, we are seeking a highly experienced Senior Mechanical Designer in Calgary. This role is ideal for a technically strong designer who excels in delivering innovative, sustainable, and code-compliant mechanical building systems. You will be responsible for the mechanical design and coordination of HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection systems across a diverse portfolio of commercial, institutional, education, government and recreational building projects.
Requirements
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead mechanical design efforts from concept through construction for building projects in commercial, institutional, government, and residential sectors.
- Prepare detailed design documents including HVAC layouts, ductwork, piping, schematics, and schedules using AutoCAD and Revit.
- Collaborate closely with architects, structural and electrical teams, and clients to ensure integrated and coordinated designs.
- Perform mechanical calculations (heating/cooling loads, ventilation rates, pressure drops).
- Conduct site reviews, support construction administration, and review shop drawings and RFIs.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant building codes, standards (ASHRAE, NBC, NFPA, etc.), and municipal requirements.
- Mentor junior designers and provide technical guidance as needed.
Qualifications:
- Diploma or degree in Mechanical Engineering Technology or related field.
- 7+ years of mechanical design experience in the building sector, with at least 5 years in a senior/lead capacity.
- Strong proficiency in Revit, AutoCAD, and Microsoft Office Suite; experience with mechanical simulation tools (e.g., HAP, TRACE) is a strong asset.
- Solid understanding of local building codes and standards.
- Effective communicator and team player with a proactive, solutions-oriented mindset.
- Experience with sustainability and energy-efficient design (LEED, Net Zero, etc.) is an asset.
