Vertex is currently seeking a Transportation Compliance Advisor to join our team in Sherwood Park, Alberta. We're looking for a detail-oriented and experienced professional who thrives in a structured, fast-paced environment. If you have a solid background in managing National Safety Code (NSC) compliance for fleet and drivers, this is your opportunity to play a key role in ensuring our transportation operations meet and exceed regulatory standards.

What Youll Do:
  • Manage and oversee Vertexs Transportation Compliance Program, ensuring full compliance with Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations and internal company policies.
  • Audit and maintain driver logs, driver files, vehicle maintenance records, and trip inspections to meet NSC and DOT standards.
  • Assist hiring managers with onboarding and documentation for commercial drivers.
  • Develop and implement training programs, including driver evaluations and periodic re-training initiatives.
  • Provide guidance and support to drivers and managers on compliance matters including Hours of Service, TDG, DOT, and FMCSA regulations.
  • Conduct internal audits and analyze carrier profiles across multiple jurisdictions, tracking compliance metrics and reporting to management.
  • Collaborate with the Corporate Safety Team on incident investigations and safety fitness evaluations.
  • Use GPS and telematics systems to support compliance monitoring and enhance fleet safety.
  • Travel as needed to support compliance initiatives across various locations.
What You Bring:
  • Minimum 5 years of experience working with transportation safety and compliance programs.
  • In-depth knowledge of NSC, DOT, and FMCSA regulations, including provincial and federal compliance standards.
  • Hands-on experience with driver log auditing, fleet compliance, and cross-border operations.
  • Strong administrative and organizational skills, with sharp attention to detail.
  • A team player with excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel, Word, and Outlook.
  • A valid drivers license and a safe driving record.
  • Willingness and ability to travel as required.
