Vertex is currently seeking a Transportation Compliance Advisor to join our team in Sherwood Park, Alberta. We're looking for a detail-oriented and experienced professional who thrives in a structured, fast-paced environment. If you have a solid background in managing National Safety Code (NSC) compliance for fleet and drivers, this is your opportunity to play a key role in ensuring our transportation operations meet and exceed regulatory standards.
What Youll Do:- Manage and oversee Vertexs Transportation Compliance Program, ensuring full compliance with Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations and internal company policies.
- Audit and maintain driver logs, driver files, vehicle maintenance records, and trip inspections to meet NSC and DOT standards.
- Assist hiring managers with onboarding and documentation for commercial drivers.
- Develop and implement training programs, including driver evaluations and periodic re-training initiatives.
- Provide guidance and support to drivers and managers on compliance matters including Hours of Service, TDG, DOT, and FMCSA regulations.
- Conduct internal audits and analyze carrier profiles across multiple jurisdictions, tracking compliance metrics and reporting to management.
- Collaborate with the Corporate Safety Team on incident investigations and safety fitness evaluations.
- Use GPS and telematics systems to support compliance monitoring and enhance fleet safety.
- Travel as needed to support compliance initiatives across various locations.
- Minimum 5 years of experience working with transportation safety and compliance programs.
- In-depth knowledge of NSC, DOT, and FMCSA regulations, including provincial and federal compliance standards.
- Hands-on experience with driver log auditing, fleet compliance, and cross-border operations.
- Strong administrative and organizational skills, with sharp attention to detail.
- A team player with excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel, Word, and Outlook.
- A valid drivers license and a safe driving record.
- Willingness and ability to travel as required.
- Work Schedule: Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM (in-office)
