Job Summary

The Estimator is responsible for preparing detailed and accurate estimates for roofing projects, focused on new construction and re-roofing. This role involves evaluating project requirements, reviewing architectural and engineering drawings, and collaborating with sales and project management teams to develop competitive proposals that ensure project profitability. The Estimator plays a critical role in securing new business by providing precise material pricing, labour forecasting, and overall cost analysis specific to high-value construction projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review project drawings, specifications, and scopes of work for new construction and re-roofing projects.
  • Research and collect pricing data for materials, subcontracted work, and labour specifically for new builds and roof replacement.
  • Develop comprehensive and competitive cost estimates and bid packages tailored to new construction and re-roofing opportunities.
  • Collaborate with sales, project management, and operations teams to clarify project requirements and refine project scopes.
  • Maintain organized records of estimates, bids, and related correspondence to support ongoing process improvements.
  • Monitor market trends and competitor pricing in the new construction and re-roofing sectors to ensure estimates remain competitive.
  • Participate in post-project reviews to compare estimates against actual costs, identifying opportunities for increased accuracy and efficiency.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of commercial roofing estimating
  • Ability to read and understand blueprints
  • Proficient in estimating software; AutoCAD, Blue Beam
  • Microsoft Office skills (Excel, Word, Outlook, etc.)
  • Excellent customer relations skills
  • Strong communication skills
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Ability to work in a fast past environment
  • Estimating a certificate would be considered an asset
