About this Role

The Human Resources Business Partner (HRBP) supports the alignment of people strategies with business goals, working closely with managers and employees on recruitment, employee relations, performance, and talent development. This role requires a proactive, collaborative professional who provides both strategic guidance and hands-on HR support while ensuring compliance with employment legislation and company policies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic and operational HR support to department leaders, helping them navigate people-related decisions and align their teams with business objectives.
  • Provide coaching and guidance to managers on employee relations, performance issues, conflict resolution, and disciplinary matters.
  • Lead or support full-cycle recruitment and onboarding to ensure a positive and consistent experience for new hires.
  • Drive the performance management process, including goal setting, feedback, annual reviews, and development planning.
  • Contribute to talent development and training strategies, identifying high-potential employees and supporting long-term growth.
  • Advise on compensation decisions and participate in annual salary and job reclassification reviews using internal equity and market data.
  • Support the rollout of HR programs including engagement surveys, wellness initiatives, and employee recognition.
  • Promote and embed the companys Employee Value Proposition (EVP) through related communications and initiatives.
  • Maintain HRIS accuracy, ensure compliance with employment legislation, and prepare reports to support data-driven decisions.
  • Foster a collaborative, inclusive culture through engagement activities and by supporting connections across teams and sites.

Education and Experience Requirements

  • 5+ years of progressive HR experience, preferably in a mid-to-senior level role supporting multiple business units.
  • Bachelors degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field required.
  • CHRP or CHRL designation, or in progress, is considered an asset.
  • Strong interpersonal, coaching, and communication skills, with the ability to influence and build trust at all levels.
  • Experience in both strategic planning and hands-on HR execution.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office 365 and familiar with HRIS platforms.
  • Possess a valid Ontario drivers license, access to a reliable vehicle, and the ability to travel to various offices and work sites as needed.

Physical/Sensory Effort and Work Environment

  • Work is performed in an open-concept office setting.
  • Regular use of computer, phone, and other office tools is required.
  • Travel to company locations within Ottawa may be necessary.
  • Occasional extended hours may be required during peak project periods or to support employee needs.
