Compensation Range: $42.19 - $49.61/ hour
Position Summary:
Reporting to the Manager, People and Culture, the Disability Management Specialist is accountable for supporting team member claims relating to occupational injuries, non-occupational health-related absences and accommodations process.
Key Responsibilities:
- Leads the claims management process for all health-related absences and leaves;
- Administers claims relating to workplace injuries through WSIB;
- Coordinates the applicable paperwork for completion by all parties within the specified timelines;
- Liaises with external insurance provider to facilitate an efficient and timely process for claims;
- Receives, reviews and assesses medical documentation relating to the health leave, accommodations and/or return to work;
- Seeks out further clarification or medical information as required;
- Monitors re-assessment dates and requests updated medical information;
- Collaborates with external insurance provider and internal business partners to assess accommodation requests and ensure a early and safe return to work;
- Coordinates, schedules and participates return to work process;
- Reviews and updates permanent accommodations on an annual basis;
- Supports a safe and healthy work environment by leading by example and reinforcing the Health and Safety program at ErinoakKids;
- Provides guidance, policy interpretation and direction to team members and managers on issues of employee relations, Human Resources and organizational policies and procedures relating to disability management;
- Tracks and maintains up to date information on all active and pending claims;
- Tracks and administers all leaves of absences for the organization;
- Prepares monthly and quarterly reports for senior management;
- Partners with the Payroll team to ensure accurate and timely attendance information;
- Partners with HR to ensure accurate benefits administration;
- Maintains the Infection Control program and Erinoakkids, including facilitation of committee meetings;
- Participates in JHSC meetings;
- Conducts ergonomic assessments;
- Conducts and drafts Physical Demands Analysis;
- Supports in managing the immunization program, including collecting all required immunization records from new hires;
- Supports with the delivery of occupational health, safety and wellness services program;
- Works in compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act at all times;
- Supports the Health and Safety Specialist as required;
- Maintains confidentiality of employee health records according to ErinoakKids policies and procedures.
Qualifications:
- University/college degree or diploma in Nursing, Kinesiology, Occupational Therapy is considered a strong asset;
- Certified Return to Work Coordinator (CRTWC) or working towards certification is preferred;
- Minimum of three (3) years direct experience with claims management, return to work programs and WSIB;
- Experience working in the healthcare or non-profit sector a definite asset;
- Demonstrated WSIB and/or JHSC experience required; certification is an asset;
- Broad experience in policy and legislation interpretation, customer service, problem solving and conflict resolution skills;
- Strong time management and organizational skills; attention to detail to manage work, competing deadlines and sensitive projects;
- Team player, able to work effectively with all levels of the organization;
- Advanced computer skills, and knowledge and expertise in Microsoft Office and HRIS systems;
- Superior interpersonal and communication skills (written, verbal and presentation);
- Demonstrates discretion, confidentiality, sound judgment and sensitivity;
- Valid driver's license and access to vehicle is required, must be able to travel to multiple ErinoakKids sites.
