Position Overview

As a Roll-Off Driver, your primary responsibility is the safe and efficient operation of roll-off trucks to transport waste and recycling containers. You are expected to comply with all traffic laws, company policies, and regulatory requirements while maintaining a high standard of customer service. This position requires a commitment to safety, attention to detail , and excellent customer service skills.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operate roll-off trucks safely, following all traffic laws and company policies.
  • Maintain a strong focus on customer service, ensuring timely and professional deliveries and pickups.
  • Communicate with customers to confirm container placement or removal according to their requests.
  • Follow designated routes and schedules provided by dispatch.
  • Drivers are responsible for ensuring that their license, medical records, and insurance are valid and up to date before starting each shift.
  • Maintain and carry all required documentation inside the truck, including:
  • Valid drivers license.
  • Vehicle registration and insurance.
  • CVOR (Commercial Vehicle Operators Registration).
  • Daily logbook/ELD records.
  • Pre-trip and post-trip inspection reports.
  • Any other required permits or regulatory documents.
  • Conduct thorough pre-trip and post-trip inspections to ensure the truck is in safe working condition.
  • Check brakes, tires, lights, fluid levels, and other essential components before and after each shift.
  • Ensure that all paperwork inside the cab is current and in compliance.
  • Identify and report any minor or major defects found during inspections to the maintenance team.
  • Document defects properly and follow up on necessary repairs before operating the vehicle.
  • Do not operate the vehicle until all critical defects have been addressed.
  • Adhere to Ministry of Transportation (MTO) standards and company policies to remain in compliance with provincial and federal regulations.
  • Ensure all necessary safety equipment is present and functional inside the truck.
  • Comply with Hours of Service (HOS) regulations, ensuring logbooks and electronic logs are properly maintained.
  • Secure and tarp loads as required to prevent debris from escaping during transport.
  • Follow all safety procedures and best practices to protect yourself, coworkers, and the public.
  • Maintain a clean and organized truck to ensure a safe and professional work environment.
  • Maintain regular communication with dispatch for scheduling, route updates, and instructions.
  • Report any delays, route changes, or safety concerns in a timely manner.
