Senior Accountant
Our Oil & Gas client in Calgary is seeking an experienced Senior Accountant to join their accounting team. A successful candidate will be responsible for financial reporting, joint venture and general accounting, tax compliance, and banking. This role will is at the client's downtown office, working 100% in person.
Your success will be defined by your ability to:
  • Financial Management/Treasury: Record cash transactions and reconcile bank accounts monthly.
  • Data Integrity: Maintain master data in Qbyte FM and manage month-end processes.
  • Joint Venture Oversight: Review joint venture billings, manage disputes, ensure accurate reporting.
  • Accounts Payable: Code, sort, approve invoices in OpenInvoice; monitor timely approvals.
  • Supplier Relations: Resolve supplier account discrepancies; ensure priority payments meet deadlines.
  • Vendor Management: Handle vendor inquiries, resolve invoice issues, manage credits reconciliation.
  • Stakeholder Collaboration: Build relationships with stakeholders, vendors, team members.
  • Process Improvement: Develop systems/processes, identify benchmarking opportunities.
  • Team Engagement: Participate in meetings to evaluate requirements and optimize processes.
  • Positive Work Environment: Foster a supportive environment for a high-performing team.
  • Financial Reporting: Assist with financial statements preparation and review; support reporting processes.
  • Peer Benchmarking: Conduct analysis to compare performance with industry peers; provide recommendations.
Your strengths include:
  • CPA designation.
  • Experience in audit and a strong understanding of accounting principles.
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills (specifically Excel).
  • Previous experience with Qbyte FM and OpenInvoice.
  • Excellent communication skills, interpersonal skills, and a team player able to build relationships and work constructively with others to achieve business goals.
  • Exemplary organizational and time management skills with the ability to prioritize and multi-task in a fast-paced, results-driven environment.
  • Detail oriented with the capability to work independently, take initiative, and effectively problem solve.
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills.
  • A track record of process innovation.
