Housekeeper / Janitor-Rainy River

Salary: $18.03/h

Rotation: 14/7

Transportation from Winnipeg ONLY. Will have to drive to Winnipeg to take the bus to destination.

As a member of our Accommodations team, you will always provide the highest quality of customer service, while working for Sodexo. The General Helper Rooms /Housekeeper /Janitor may work in any location on client premises. This individual cleans and keeps in an orderly condition the facilities at the Lodge. The general responsibilities of the position include those listed below, but Sodexo may identify other responsibilities of the position.

Accountabilities/Responsibilities:

Perform all the environmental tasks demonstrating service orientation to fellow employees, client staff and customers.

  • Interacts effectively with facility staff, patients, residents, or visitors
  • Perform basic cleaning functions in assigned areas as following established schedules and using prescribed methods.
  • Dusts Horizontal surfaces.
  • Empties waste baskets and recycling, removes waste and relines baskets
  • Damp wipes and cleans all furniture.
  • Cleans and polishes metal and porcelain fixtures in the bathroom.
  • Spot cleans walls and windows.
  • Polishes metal surfaces.
  • Replenishes room supplies.
  • Vacuums.
  • Performs discharge duties when required
  • Changes linen and transports to assigned area
  • Performs heavier cleaning functions in assigned areas following established schedules and using prescribed methods.
  • Dust and wet mops floors. Scrub or buff floors with the appropriate equipment. Vacuum and shampoo carpets for cleaning and bacterial control. Strip and refinish hard surface floors.
  • Dispose of biohazard and chemical waste in prescribed method.
  • Clean light fixtures and fittings.
  • Measure and mix cleaning chemicals.
  • Maintain assigned equipment for cleanliness and recommends repairs as needed.
  • Performs all other tasks which may be assigned.
  • Damp dust equipment at end of shift or as required in maintaining a clean working environment.
  • Ensure sinks and counters are well maintained in a clean & disinfected manner.
  • Report all equipment concerns to Manager or Supervisor.
  • Follow & perform tasks of Duty List.
  • To always maintain a safe work environment (example – wet floor signage)
  • Is responsible to perform his/her job according to safe work practices by:
    • learning the safe way to do his/her job and to seek instruction when in doubt
    • to perform each task in a safe manner using equipment provided, following instructions and established procedures.
    • to report all injuries and hazardous conditions to management immediately.
    • to support the Safety Program in the unit
  • Any other duties that may from time to time be requested from your supervisor.
Qualifications

Qualifications:

  • Minimum, grade 10 education.
  • Building Services Certificate
  • Demonstrated Customer Service experience
  • English proficiency, verbal and written to allow safe performance of the job.
  • Pass physical exam as required by client.
  • Clearance for Criminal record check.
  • After initial training demonstrate the ability to utilize supplies, tools and equipment.
  • Have the ability to stand for 8.0 hours, lift. Bend, kneel, crouch, and reach.
