Transit Driver - Casual

PWTransit is currently seeking multiple casual Transit Drivers to join our team in Campbell River. Drivers are responsible for safely transporting passengers on a daily basis and must be committed to providing superior customer service. Commitment, patience, maturity, and initiative are all required qualities.

Position Requirements:

• A valid Class 1 or 2 driver's license with Air Brake endorsement
• Willingness to undergo drug and alcohol screening
• Clear criminal record
• Must be organized, punctual and reliable
• Possess excellent driving skills and habits
• Ability to read maps and navigate
• Ability to communicate effectively
• A good knowledge of the local area is a definite asset
• Willing to work shifts, including split shifts, weekends and statutory holidays as necessary

Compensation:

• Training rate - $25.00
• After training and until 240 hours (or 6 months) - $27.73 - $29.84 per hour
• Between 240 – 480 hours (or 12 months) - $28.66 - 30.83 per hour
• Regular rate (after 480 hours or 12 months) - $30.82 - $33.16 per hour

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

• Safely transport passengers on a number of assigned routes
• Manage passenger behaviour by quickly and effectively solving problems
• Drive safely and responsibly and be prepared for all road and traffic conditions
• Provide superior customer service and assist with passenger questions/inquiries

• This position require working shifts, including split shifts, as well as weekends and statutory holidays
• Selected applicants will be required to participate in a comprehensive recruitment process which consists of interviews, trainability session, medical examination (as required for licensing), drug and alcohol screening, criminal record and reference checks
