ROLE OVERVIEW

Thiess Mining Canada seeks a dynamic Project Controls Specialist to join the team at a mining project based in Sudbury, Ontario. Reporting directly to the Project Manager and functionally to the Lead Project Controller, this pivotal role will play a crucial part in establishing Thiess Mining Canada's presence in the region. As the Project Controls Specialist, you will oversee daily financial and governance processes that support the project's Assets Function, with a strong focus on safety, Thiess systems, procurement, subcontractor management, asset management, equipment warranty, planning, and execution.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Demonstrate unwavering safety leadership, ensuring compliance with all health, safety, and environmental regulations.
  • Maintain complete listing of equipment onsite, ensure JDE Asset Master register is up to date, follow up on any deficiencies,
  • Collaborate with the Maintenance team in their day-to-day planning and execution of work, reward from a cost control perspective.
  • Ensure data tracking mechanisms are being populated properly in Infomine (Thiess internal system) and Wenco
  • Manage and reconcile internal and external maintenance labor costs, including subcontractors.
  • Review and approve maintenance requisitions, ensuring purchases are within budget and have accurate coding
  • Provide detailed cost analysis related to fixed assets, monitor costs against budget, provide commentary to variances and review with Maintenance Superintendent
  • Manage the projects procure-to-pay process, including entering requisitions, processing invoices, accounts payable workflow (APWF), and JDE housekeeping.
  • Maintain professional communication with suppliers, subcontractors, and clients.
  • Develop strong working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ensure the integrity of the JDE Asset Master and liaising with the Corporate Asset Admin team.
  • Implement and maintain scalable and efficient systems.
  • Additional Duties: Perform other related duties as assigned.

REQUIRED SKILLS

  • Minimum 2 years of experience in a related field such as Cost Control, Project Control, Project Accounting, Finance, Asset Management
  • Experience in mining is preferred
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills

JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Microsoft Excel.
  • Authorization to work lawfully in Canada without sponsorship from Thiess.
  • Valid driver's license

EDUCATION

  • Post-secondary degree in a related field is required, however, relevant experience may be considered in lieu of formal education*.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

  • This is a site-based role on a Monday to Friday schedule that may involve occasional travel.
  • The role will cross-project partner with functional peers in multinational jurisdictions.
