West Fraser is seeking an experienced Linux Administrator to join our Systems Administration team full-time, permanently. In this critical role, you will be instrumental in developing, optimizing, and supporting our enterprise-wide Linux server infrastructure. The ideal candidate combines technical expertise, strong problem-solving abilities, and a proactive approach to system administration. This job can be located in Quesnel, Vancouver or Memphis.

Core Responsibilities:

• Design, implement, and maintain robust Linux server environments across the organization
• Enhance system security posture through regular audits, patch management, and hardening practices
• Optimize server performance, reliability, and scalability to meet business requirements
• Proactively monitor systems and respond to alerts, preventing potential issues after they impact operations
• Collaborate with cross-functional IT teams to support back-end infrastructure initiatives
• Create and maintain comprehensive documentation for system configurations and operational procedures
• Provide technical leadership and support to junior team members and other departments

Technical Requirements:

• Operating Systems: Advanced expertise in Red Hat Enterprise Linux, Oracle Linux, HP-UX, and CentOS environments
• Container Technology: Proficiency with Red Hat OpenShift and container orchestration
• Automation: Strong scripting skills using Bash, Python, Ansible, and Terraform
• Print Management: Experience with CUPS (Common Unix Printing System)
• Security: Demonstrated experience implementing vulnerability remediation in production environments, conducting security audits, and responding to penetration test findings
• Systems Engineering: Proven ability to design, implement, test, and troubleshoot complex Linux systems
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience with virtualization technologies, particularly VMware
• Knowledge of version control systems including CVS and SVN
• Cloud platform expertise (Azure, AWS, GCP)
• DevOps methodologies and practices

Qualifications & Experience:

• Post-secondary education in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering or related field (or equivalent practical experience)
• 5+ years of hands-on experience in enterprise Linux administration
• Exceptional analytical and problem-solving abilities, with proven success in high-pressure environments
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Collaborative mindset with proven ability to thrive in team environments

Work Conditions:
