FORKLIFT OPERATOR
FULL TIME | ONSITE

JOB DETAILS

Pay rate: $23.69 /hr to start

Hours: bi-weekly rotational shifts

5AM- 3PM, 7AM-4:30PM , 11AM-8PM but subject to change depending on when trucks are done being unloaded (this shift comes with evening shift premium)

Shift: Monday to Friday

Location: Nepean

Immediate Supervisor: Yard Foreman & Operations Manager

RESPONSIBILITIES

Provides shipping and receiving assistance to customers on orders and returns.

Assists other Yard/Forklift operators with manually picking items such as: Drywall, mud, tape, steel, etc.

Operates propane counterbalance forklift to load and unload trucks as directed by supervisor.

Assists truck drivers in loading merchandise and materials ensuring it is safely and properly handled to prevent damage.

Assists truck drivers in unloading of and returning of credit items. Ensures these items are returned to proper storage location

Unloads incoming freight and checks count against purchase order to see if it is correct.

Completes necessary reports, i.e. checks orders filled, checks material received and forklift inspections sheets.

Keeps yard, warehouse, and work area clean and litter free.

Performs duties in a safe manner observing safe procedures while constantly alert to any unsafe working conditions.

Loads and safely handles customer orders.

Maintains knowledge of proper identification of inventory items.

Locates and pulls correct items by type, style, and quantity as directed by supervisor to fill order completely, quickly and with accuracy.

Assists supervisor, other employees and other work areas as needed.

One (1) mandatory Saturday every year for inventory (Last weekend of July before Civic Holiday weekend).

Snow removal and salting as required in the winter

Additional duties as required and requested

REQUIREMENTS

6 months to 1 year of verifiable forklift experience

CSA Approved Steel-toed boots (8 high)

Valid Forklift Certification is considered an asset

Valid Working at Heights Certification is considered an asset

Excellent customer service, and interpersonal skills

Ability to do basic math, read instructions and complete forms.

Communicate with customers, other employees and supervisors using verbal & written skills.

Knowledge and ability to use safe lifting techniques.

Use Personal Protective Equipment as prescribed in designated areas

Strength (lift, carry, push and pull): Maximum lift, 100 lbs.; Frequently lift/carry up to 50 lbs.

Ability to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, reach, with manual dexterity and see (acuity, depth perception, field of vision, accommodation).

Reach overhead to grasp materials.

ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL WORKING CONDITIONS

Work outside in temperatures ranging from extreme heat to extreme cold.

Work with mechanical equipment on daily basis.
