ABOUT WILLIAMS LAKE FIRST NATION (WLFN)

The Williams Lake First Nation (WLFN), or the Texelcemc (people of WLFN) have belonged to the Secwepemc (or Shuswap) Nation for over 6500 years. Today, the WLFN community includes a growing population of over 800 registered members who live on reserve in Sugar Cane, in nearby Williams Lake, BC, and across the globe.

POSITION

Reporting to the Supervisor, Little Chiefs Daycare. The Early Childhood Education Assistant is responsible for the successful coordination of Early Childhood related services to the students at Little Chiefs Daycare. The Early Childhood Education Assistant establishes effective working relationships with other staff, families and the community to ensure ample services and quality education for the students.

Employment Type

Term (June 2025- June 4th, 2026), full time, 35 hours per week.

Probation Period

3 months from the date of hire.

Education Required

Early Childhood Education Assistant Certification (or higher) and License to Practice.

Valid First Aid, CPR, Food Safe Certification.

Experience Required

At least one year of experience with children under 5.

Overtime Status

(Exempt or non-exempt)

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Oversee the day-to-day operations of the childcare center.
  2. Maintain policy and licensing regulations.
  3. Incorporates Policy & Procedures Manual for Child Care and Head Start Programs.
  4. Represent Little Chiefs Daycare in a professional, positive manner.
  5. Ensures the supervision and respectful care of each child.
  6. Ensures a secure, organized, safe and healthy environment for the children at all times.
  7. Possesses an understanding and awareness of the care and learning needs of each child.
  8. Provides a program of activities based on a balanced cultural and academic curriculum.
  9. Plans, prepares, implements and assesses program activities that meet the developmental abilities of each child.
  10. Demonstrates respect for the children, families and co-workers.
  11. Collaborate with parents/families regarding their childs goals and experiences.
  12. Maintains confidentiality of all information gained while working with the organization.
