As Grants Specialist, you will be responsible for the day-to-day execution of CIRAs flagship annual Net Good Grants program. This includes everything from software setup, national marketing and communications, applicant support, recipient onboarding, and reporting liaison. You understand the value of communicating impact and are a natural storyteller across multiple platforms and a variety of audiences, external and internal. You are excited by the opportunity to work in support of finding the best community-led internet projects across Canada, you enjoy wrestling with software workflows, and have a keen sense of process and attention to detail. You know first-hand the difference funding can make to a communitys development and want to play a role in helping Canadians thrive on the internet.
What you will do:
- Run the full annual Net Good Grants application process from start to finish.
- Lead, plan and execute the communications outreach strategy for CIRAs annual grants program.
- Provide support to applicants throughout the entire process (updating online content, presenting webinars, answering direct email and phone inquiries).
- Update the online application system to reflect annual granting priorities.
- Coordinate eligibility review and committee decision-making processes.
- Manage all project applicant and recipient documentation.
- Create and curate a variety of communications materials such as web blogs or pages, social content and event collateral to engage our community and support the Net Good Grants program.
- Craft and disseminate project impact stories for core audiences.
- Prepare reports for management and board members.
- Travel occasionally to promote Net Good Grants at events across Canada.
What you bring:
- 3+ years' experience working at a non-profit and/or community-based organization.
- Bachelor's degree in communications, marketing, non-profit leadership, business administration or equivalent.
- Understanding of digital divides in Canada
and a keen interest in closing them.
- Experience with fundraising and/or grantmaking.
- Experience with SmartSimple or other grants management software and online application workflows.
- Excellent written communication, storytelling and oral presentation skills - including copywriting, proofreading and editing.
- Ability to create, edit, and publish multimedia content (text, audio, video) and familiarity with the platforms required to do so.
- Team-oriented, with an ability to build relationships with stakeholders and external committees.
- Social media savvy across LinkedIn, Facebook, Instagram.
- Proficiency in English is essential; bilingualism in French is highly recommended.
