What we are looking for:

In this role, you are primarily responsible for operating a single axle truck for the purpose of picking up and delivering freight. You will be responsible for safely loading/unloading the truck using the appropriate equipment. You will be accountable for ensuring accurate completion and tracking of all the documentation pertaining to the orders, as well as vehicle inspections and maintenance.

Other Duties and responsibilities may include, but not limited to:

  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment
  • Maintain internal record-keeping systems
  • Maintain storage area, rotate stock as required, replace and repair damaged packaging
  • Communicate with internal and external customers to ensure that their expectations are being met within the required timelines
  • Other assignments on an as needed basis

Qualifications:

  • Must be available to start work at 9:30am on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday & Friday; 6am on Wednesday.Able to offer flexible availability, including the ability to work various hours depending on the needs of the DC or the route.
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Valid full G license with a clean driver's abstract.
  • AZ or DZ license is an asset
  • At least two years of experience driving a straight truck within the GTA and highway driving.
  • Hydraulic lift gate experience is preferred.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Physical requirements include lifting up to 50 pounds repeatedly, long periods of standing, lots of walking, bending, twisting, squatting and climbing on a ladder up to ten (10) feet in height.
  • Flexibility to work different shift depending on the DC's requirements.
  • Experience using equipment such as a dolly, pump trucks, tailgate lift, computer terminal, printer, calculator, photocopier, and fax machine is preferred.

Working Conditions:

  • Works in a mobile environment.
  • Work requiresregular intensity activities on a frequent basis such as carrying objects weighing up to 50 pounds with assistance, use of ladders to safely access elevated areas, and standing/sitting for extended periods, bending and/or moving comfortably to perform job tasks.
  • Work requires vigilance, concentration, and attention to detail for longer periods of time.
  • Work often requires frequent exposure to disagreeable elements, given the nature of the role involves driving.
  • Must be able to collaborate with others calmly and effectively in minimally intense or emotionally charged interactions on a regular basis.

Conditions of Employment:

  • Permanent, Full-time, 40+ hours per week
  • Legally entitled to work in Canada under relevant provincial or territorial legislation and regulations.
  • Must have a valid Canadian driver's license with a clean driving record.
