RESPONSIBILITIES

Yard Management:

Supervise daily operations of the steel and gypsum yard.

Ensure the receipt, storage, and distribution of materials.

Maintain the organization and cleanliness of the yard

Delivery Preparation:

Coordinate the preparation of orders for delivery

Ensure materials are properly packaged and ready for transport

Collaborate with drivers to optimize delivery routes

Customer Service:

Welcome and advise customers on available products

Address questions and resolve customer issues efficiently

Maintain positive relationships with customers and suppliers

Inventory Management:

Monitor stock levels and place orders to avoid shortages

Conduct regular inventories and adjust stock levels accordingly

Use inventory management systems to track material movements

Safety and Compliance:

Ensure all operations comply with safety standards and regulations

Organize regular inspections of the yard and equipment

Train staff on safety procedures and best practices

Leadership and Team Management:

Supervise and train yard staff

Plan work schedules and distribute tasks

Foster a positive and collaborative work environment

EDUCATION

High school Diploma or general equivalency degree (GED)

EDUCATION

Experience in managing a steel yard or construction materials

Skills in inventory management and logistics

Excellent communication and customer service skills

Ability to work independently and make decisions

Knowledge of safety standards and regulation

LICENSE OR CERTIFICATION

Forklift certification is an asset

ENVIRONMENT OR PHYSICAL WORKING CONDITIONS

• Mainly outdoor work in a construction or gypsum yard
• Frequent interaction with truck drivers and suppliers
• Work outside in temperatures ranging from extreme heat to extreme cold
