As a global leader in humanitarian aid and development, we are seeking a visionary and dynamicChief Development Officer (CDO) to lead our fundraising, marketing and partnership efforts.This role is critical to expanding HCIs impact by developing and executing innovative strategies to secure resources, engage stakeholders, and strengthen donor relationships. The CDO will work closely with the executive team to ensure alignment with organizational goals, driving growth and sustainability across all fundraising initiatives.

Position Title: Chief Development Officer
Reporting To: Global Chief Executive Officer (CEO)
Location: Remote / Hybrid
Terms: Permanent full-time - 37.5 hours per week

Key Duties and ResponsibilitiesFundraising Strategy and Leadership
  • Develop and implement comprehensive fundraising strategies to meet and exceed revenue goals.
  • Lead the design and execution of major campaigns, including annual giving, major gifts, planned giving, and grants.
  • Identify new opportunities for growth, including corporate partnerships, foundation support, and innovative funding models.
Marketing Strategy and Leadership
  • Develop and oversee a comprehensive marketing and communications strategy that supports fundraising goals and promotes the organizations mission.
  • Strengthen HCIs brand identity across digital, print, and event platforms.
  • Supervise the creation and distribution of compelling content including newsletters, social media, press releases, and impact reports.
  • Lead market research and audience analysis to refine messaging and outreach tactics.
  • Collaborate with program teams to highlight success stories and increase public awareness.
Donor Relations and Stewardship
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with donors, sponsors, and key stakeholders.
  • Oversee donor engagement strategies, ensuring a high level of satisfaction and retention.
  • Create and implement recognition programs to celebrate donor contributions.
Team Development and Management
  • Lead and inspire the Development team, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and excellence.
  • Provide mentorship and professional development opportunities to team members.
  • Ensure effective coordination between Development, Communications, and Program teams to align messaging and goals.
Data-Driven Insights and Reporting
  • Oversee the development and maintenance of donor databases and CRM systems.
  • Analyze fundraising performance metrics and provide regular updates to the executive team and Board of Directors.
  • Prepare reports and presentations on development activities and outcomes.
Organizational Leadership
  • Serve as a key member of the executive team, contributing to strategic planning and decision-making.
  • Represent HCI at events, conferences, and meetings to enhance visibility and build networks.
  • Act as a spokesperson for the organizations development efforts.
Additional Responsibilities
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support HCIs mission and strategic goals.
Qualifications, Skills, and Experience
  • Bachelors degree in Nonprofit Management, Business Administration, or a related field (Masters preferred).
  • Minimum 7-10 years of progressive experience in fundraising, development, or related fields, with at least 3 years in a leadership role.
  • Proven track record of success in major gift fundraising and securing high-value partnerships.
  • Strong understanding of fundraising trends, donor relations, and best practices.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in CRM systems, fundraising software, and data analytics.
  • Ability to think strategically, innovate, and adapt to changing circumstances.
  • Passion for humanitarian work and alignment with HCIs mission and values.
