Journeyperson Plumber/Gas Fitter
(1 Position Available) Term of Employment:Full-Time, ContinuingRate of Pay:Band 6: $39.08 – $42.68 per hour (Subject to CUPE 1015 Agreement)Current Location:Operations CentreDuties:The Journeyperson Plumber/Gas Fitter will be responsible to install, repair and maintain plumbing systems and components to all City Facilities.
- To maintain the highest level of function and safety for all City of Lloydminster owned facilities.
- Responding in emergency situations in an efficient and professional manner.
- Perform routine and preventative Plumbing and Heating maintenance to buildings and facilities.
- Install, repair and maintain plumbing, heating systems and associated components.
- Install, repair and maintain washroom components including toilets, sinks, faucets and water heaters.
- Perform scheduled and preventative maintenance service on plumbing, heating systems and fixtures.
- Identify and prepare tools, equipment and materials to perform tasks.
- Visually inspects pipe systems and fixtures for condition and leaks.
- Measures, cuts, thread, bends solvent cements and soldering of pipes and fittings.
- Ensures all requirements as specified by the manufacturer of systems and fixtures are adhered to.
- Assembles and installs valves and fittings.
- Maintains backflow valves and systems and facilitates annual inspections.
- Maintains sump pumps and lift stations.
- Read blueprints, drawings and specifications to determine layout of plumbing system, water supply network and sanatory systems.
- Provides repair solutions to supervisor or facility manager.
- Ensures that materials are stored in a safe and orderly manner.
- Maintains, cleans and organizes all job related tools.
- Sustains a valid and current journeyperson certification
- Reports all issues and concerns with equipment, safety, facilities, and procedures to supervisor.
- Obtaining permits as required.
- Maintains daily legible reports and paperwork
- Adhere to all City Directives and Policies.
- Other related duties as required.
- May be required to work some overtime and the occasional On-Call.
- A minimum of Grade 12 education or GED equivalency.
- Minimum 5yrs previous journeyperson accredited commercial plumbing and heating experience
- Strong communication skills (writing, speaking, listening) are required.
- Basic computer skills in areas such as in Microsoft Suite including Microsoft and Word. Ability to navigate on the internet, use Smartphones and Timesheet apps would be considered an asset.
- Strong customer service skills with the ability to deal with the public and building tenants courteously and in an effective manner.
- Strong attention to detail with excellent organizational and time management skills is required.
- Must have the ability to work responsibly alone with minimal supervision and work well with other employees.
- Must be in good physical condition and be able to stand for long period of time with bending and reaching motions, with the ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Must be able to work at height and in confined spaces.
- Must have a valid Class 5 vehicle operator's license with a clear driving record; a mandatory driver's abstract is to be provided with application submission.
- Current valid Journeyperson plumbing and gas fitting certification required
- Must be able to safely operate equipment and hand tools in an efficient, responsible manner in accordance with recognized procedures.
- Satisfactory Criminal Record Check
- Successful applicant must provide proof of qualifications.
- Must be willing to complete an enhanced RCMP clearance.
- Applicants with international education will be required to include an Academic Credential Assessment with application.
