Position Description
Sprott is looking for a highly motivated full-time Manager, Investment Finance to join its team in its Toronto office. This position is for an existing vacancy and will report to the Senior Manager, Investment Finance. This position will be responsible for supporting the Senior Manager of the department in overseeing the accounting for funds, as well as the day-to-day operations of the funds including:
Financial reporting, ensuring compliance with IFRS, US GAAP, PCAOB, NI 81-102, 33 ACT, 34ACT and 40 ACT;
Reviewing of agreements and prospectuses;
Reviewing and supporting US and Canadian tax reporting;
Supporting the trade and fund operations functions of the department;
Supporting the Senior Manager with the day to day operations of the funds;
Investor and management reporting;
Monitor and review the treasury of the funds;
Reviewing the investment accounting of the funds, including the valuation of public equities, closed-end funds, ETFs, warrants and private placements etc.;
Reviewing and managing the fund budget process and disbursements;
Reviewing NAV, management fees and incentive fee calculations;
Supporting the external audit process;
Preparing accounting memos as needed;
Ensuring the proper documentation, implementation and management of internal controls;
Assisting with the preparation of due diligence decks and regulatory reports;
Assisting with new fund launches;
Oversight of external service providers; and
Performing a reasonability on key financial items.
Position Requirements:
Minimum of 4 years of related experience in the finance department of an asset management, banking or capital markets entity
Completion of Professional accounting designation (CPA, CA, CMA, CGA, etc.)
University degree. This position requires a minimum of a university degree in accounting or equivalent
Strong knowledge and understanding of capital markets, trading and investment operations
Advanced knowledge of Excel (eg VLOOKUPs, pivot tables)
Excellent communication skills both verbal and written
Excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to work effectively with all levels of staff
The ability to work in a team environment and to work well under pressure
Excellent time management skills and the ability to multi-task
Strong analytical and problem solving skills with great attention to detail
Experience with fund launches and oversight if outsourced service providers would be an asset
Audit experience would be an asset
