Job Description:
As the Accounting Technician at Trim Landscaping, you will play a key role in supporting the financial health of our company. Youll be responsible for processing invoices, reconciling accounts, preparing reports, and maintaining accurate financial records. This role also involves collaborating with other departments to ensure smooth accounting operations and compliance with internal procedures. This position is for you if you thrive in a detail-oriented environment, enjoy working with numbers, and take pride in accuracy.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain the company's financial records and data using QuickBooks
- Reconcile accounts and maintain general ledgers.
- Maintain financial spreadsheets for capital assets, leases, loans, etc.
- Calculate and record the accounts payable accrual.
- Verify the accuracy of accounting data by reviewing the general ledger and comparative financial statements. Provide documentation for variances.
- Complete preliminary month-end review of financial statements.
- Prepare WIP assessments, rolling forecasts, and other necessary reports as required by management.
- Maintain payroll cost accounts, mapping new employees to GLs in QBO. Prepare the worker compensation forms and WCB documentation. Calculate the payroll accrual.
- Generate cheques for vendors, lenders, and investors where necessary.
- Assist in building budgets and forecasts.
- Bookkeeping for affiliated companies.
- Analyze construction job costs and present profit and loss of jobs to management.
- Prepare HST payable and receivable calculation for submission
Qualifications:
- Post-secondary diploma or certificate in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration (e.g., from a community college or technical institute).
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and experience with Quickbooks Online
- Experience in the landscaping, construction, or related industries is a plus.
- Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to multitask.
