Join the Heart and Stroke Foundation as a Senior Financial Analyst and be a pivotal force in driving our mission forward!
In this dynamic role, reporting to Senior Manager, Financial Planning and Analysis, you'll dive deep into financial analysis, forecasting, and modeling to uncover insights that shape key business decisions across our diverse departments and programs. Your strategic recommendations will be instrumental in guiding our senior leaders, fostering a culture of financial accountability and transparency.

How you will make an impact every day
Business Partner Support
Provide support to senior leaders (ie -Directors and VP's) with all elements of financial planning, analysis and reporting.
Drive the process to translate business line strategy into financial plans and targets, offering robust and insightful challenges on assumptions to influence the budgeting and forecasting process
Mentor the financial analysts to prepare analysis and recommendations of financial results to business partners in partnership with stakeholders
Provide verbal and written commentary against monthly business partner performance to the Senior Manager, FP&A for incorporation into reports to Executive Leadership and Finance Committee
Act as a SME for revenue generating departments like Resuscitation, development, community and Direct Marketing to effectively partner and support data driven decisions.
Financial Modeling & Decision Support
Develop and maintain complex financial models and projections that can support strategic decision-making, such as evaluating innovative and growth programs, assessing the impact of fundraising initiatives, and conducting cost-benefit analysis.
Collaborate with and provide financial expertise and support to the leaders of cross-functional teams on a variety of projects to help drive business decisions on future state models.
Budgeting & Forecasting
Provide strategic analytical support and financial guidance to senior leaders on the budget development and forecasting process.
Lead the preparation of analysis necessary to ensure the budget is an accurate reflection of the multi-year plan
Develop and maintain H&S's long-term financial forecasts and strategic financial plans, taking into consideration market trends, economic conditions, industry trends and competitive landscape
Data Analysis & Reporting
Extract, analyze, merge and interpret data from various internal and external systems in order to identify trends, risk, and other issues that can be used to inform, guide and influence senior management through decision making on current state
Create and maintain complex financial models and dashboards (planned and ad-hoc) to track key performance indicators (KPIs) and monitor financial performance.
Conduct in-depth financial analysis and provide insights on program effectiveness, fundraising campaigns, and other key initiatives
Develop and maintain effective data visualization techniques (e.g., charts, graphs, dashboards) to present financial information combined with influencing data, and findings in a clear, concise and impactful manner.
Identify and analyze financial risks, and provide recommendations for mitigation strategies
Lead and mentor the financial analysts to ensure all month end financial processes are performed on time and accurately.
Manage the cost centre hierarchy to ensure alignment with all organizational changes and ensure integrity of recalibrated data
Conduct other ad hoc analysis and financial reports as required
Who we need
Education
Bachelor's degree in finance, Accounting, or analytics related field
Experience
Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in financial analysis and reporting, preferably within a non-profit or healthcare organization
Skills
Strong analytical, problem solving and critical thinking skills with the ability to analyze complex data and draw meaningful conclusions
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including data analysis, modeling, and visualization techniques and tools (Power BI, Tableau and business intelligence software).
Comfortable working with cross-functional teams in a matrix organization
Understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting standards
Excellent communication and people skills with the ability to effectively and clearly communicate complex financial information and insights to both financial and non-financial audiences.
Ability to juggle concurrent projects and demonstrate flexibility within a fast-paced and frequently changing environment
Precision in analysis and reporting to ensure accuracy and compliance
Demonstrates initiative, strong work ethic, diligence, attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines.
