Thinkpath Engineering Services is looking for Mechanical Design Engineers to fill opportunities in the Etobicoke, ON area. These would be contract positions expected to last at least 5 months.

Job Description

• Development of military vehicle sub-systems that, in parallel, satisfy the needs of efficient and effective manufacture / assembly and ongoing supportability, while not compromising in terms of robustness and reliability.
• Generating design concepts for new and next generation products, including, CAD, material selection, defining processing parameters, tooling, and drafting to the department's standards and procedures.
• Interact with production and quality teams to investigate and obtain any necessary corrective action data.
• Support other areas of product design engineering, as required
• Technical support to the Quality and Manufacturing Engineering teams for proposed designs.
• Undertake problem solving of design and product issues to resolve functional issues as they arise throughout the development.
• Support Integrated Logistics Support (ILS) efforts to ensure a sustainable support solution.
• Support Operations to ensure that components and assemblies can be manufactured effectively and efficiently
• Recognise the need for engineering change and raise engineering change requests as appropriate.

Qualifications

Degree or equivalent (i.e. diploma or experience) in an appropriate Mechanical Engineering or similar discipline.

Previous experience working on design and development projects, inception to launch, within an engineer to order technical environment.

5+ years of design experience using 3D CAD software, (CREO preferred, but other CAD software considered)

Familiar with the use of PLM software, (Windchill preferred)

Understanding of engineering drawings and design standards including Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing, ideally to automotive / defence requirements.

Ability to communicate effectively on a technical level and contribute to team projects.

Proficient user of MS office software.

Familiar with configuration control and change management processes

Familiar with the compilation of Design FMEA's.

Experience with the design of machined components and welded fabrications of steel and aluminum.

Must be able to obtain CGP clearance (citizen or permanent resident required)
