Schedule:Monday to Friday 10 hr. shifts, alternating Saturday, early morning starts 6am

Summary:

YORK1 is currently seeking a Mini Truck Driver to join our team in Hamilton. This role involves operating a light-duty truck (currently G-class, transitioning to D-class) to perform safe and timely collection and transport of waste and recycling materials across residential and commercial locations in the GTHA and Niagara area. The ideal candidate has strong driving skills, attention to safety, and the ability to deliver excellent customer service.

Responsibilities:

Operational

• Conduct pre- and post-trip inspections using standardized forms and online tools
• Operate a mini truck (automatic transmission) on assigned routes to collect waste/recyclables
• Maintain cleanliness of the vehicle and surrounding work area during dumping/loading
• Responsible for completing approximately 1015 runs per day
• Ensure bins are tarped securely (manual or automatic tarping systems)
• Comply with transportation laws, route plans, and safety protocols
  

Customer Service

• Interact professionally and courteously with customers and members of the public
• Ensure bins are positioned appropriately without obstructing driveways or traffic
• Leave customer locations clean and debris-free
  

Safety

• Follow all YORK1 health and safety rules and legal requirements (OHS, DOT, etc.)
• Report safety concerns, route issues, or accidents immediately to Dispatch
• Attend mandatory safety training and meetings
• Identify and report damaged containers or unsafe conditions
  

Reporting

• Maintain accurate logs of daily activities and vehicle conditions
• Submit daily productivity sheets and vehicle inspection reports to Dispatch and Maintenance
  

Qualifications

• Valid DZ Ontario Drivers License (G-class truck now; D-class required in the coming months)
• Minimum 3 years of commercial driving experience
• At least 1 year of experience operating roll-off or waste collection vehicles preferred
• Clean Drivers Abstract and CVOR
• Experience with both manual and automatic trucks is an asset; current fleet is mostly automatic

Working Conditions

• Required to use motor coordination with arm, hand, finger, and leg dexterity continuously and repeatedly throughout a 10 12-hour shift.
• Requires pulling, bending, twisting, climbing, sitting, and lifting repeatedly up to 40lbs (disconnect and reconnect bins/cable)
