About the Project:Our client, a prominent real estate developer, is launching an iconic luxury 5-star Marriott-branded hotel in the heart of downtown Toronto. Currently in the advanced stages of construction, this landmark property will feature world-class amenities, premium guest experiences, and a distinguished design aesthetic that aligns with Marriott's highest standards.We are seeking a General Manager with proven expertise in launching Marriott-branded hotels from the ground up to lead the pre-opening and operational ramp-up, and to serve as the strategic face of the property post-launch.Key Responsibilities:Pre-Opening Phase:
- Lead all aspects of the hotel launch, from construction handover through soft and grand openings.
- Serve as liaison between ownership/developer, Marriott International, construction teams, and third-party vendors to ensure timely delivery and brand compliance.
- Oversee pre-opening tasks such as staff recruitment, training programs, standard operating procedures (SOPs), licensing, and regulatory approvals.
- Manage FF&E (Furniture, Fixtures & Equipment) installation and pre-opening budgets.
- Coordinate with Marriott's corporate teams to ensure alignment with brand standards, marketing, and technology systems.
- Establish and drive a high-performance culture committed to service excellence and operational excellence.
- Oversee daily operations across all departments including Rooms, F&B, Sales & Marketing, Spa, Housekeeping, and Engineering.
- Drive revenue, profit, guest satisfaction, and brand standards through strategic planning and team development.
- Act as brand ambassador, maintaining excellent relationships with guests, stakeholders, and Marriott corporate representatives.
- Ensure ongoing regulatory, financial, health & safety, and quality compliance.
- Minimum 10 years of hotel leadership experience, including at least 3 full Marriott-branded hotel openings from ground-up construction.
- Deep understanding of Marriott International's pre-opening protocols, brand standards, and operating systems (e.g., MGS, CI/TY, OPERA, etc.).
- Exceptional leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and lead high-performing teams in a dynamic, high-touch environment.
- Strong financial acumen with experience managing multi-million-dollar operating and capital budgets.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively with developers, owners, and brand representatives in a collaborative and results-driven manner.
- Degree or diploma in Hospitality Management or related field preferred.
