Building Science Engineer

The ideal candidate is experienced in building science and structural restoration, with well-rounded knowledge of the envelope and structural elements of buildings including garages, balconies, roofs and waterproofing systems. The successful candidate has experience leading project teams with multiple levels of staff, as well as preparing and reviewing designs, specifications and reports.

Your Role:
Act as technical lead on projects and be responsible for technical review and communication of findings from subconsultants and junior staff.
Undertake investigations and prepare technical reports for parking garages, roofing, building envelope, assessments, and leak investigations.
Prepare specifications and manage tendering process.
Procure new projects and clients through identifying business development opportunities and leading proposal efforts.
Attend industry events and help increase TCGs technical profile in the industry.
Contribute to development of internal technical practice systems as well as training and mentorship of junior staff.
Manage projects from inception through the investigation, specification and construction stage.
Ensure timely and accurate invoicing, monitor receivables and be responsible for the financial health of the project.
Continually seek opportunities to increase client satisfaction and to develop lasting client relationships.
Responsible for identifying and managing project risks.
Assist in updating corporate standards, devise new innovative approaches, apply existing criteria in to new approaches, and draw conclusions for comparative situations as appropriate.
Work closely with architects, contractors, and other design professionals where required to achieve desired project outcomes and provide fully coordinated designs.
Collaborate with and coordinate with building partners, suppliers, and external engineering consultants.
Conduct field reviews and investigations of building systems such as garages and roofs to ensure they meet design specifications and performance requirements.
Participate in continuous improvement initiatives, including identifying opportunities to streamline processes, improve quality, and reduce waste.
Comply with all health and safety rules, policies, and procedures.

Complete other duties as we may request which are consistent with your abilities and responsibilities.
What You'll Bring to TCG:
Bachelors degree in Civil, Structural or Architectural Engineering or Post-Secondary Education in Engineering or Architectural Technology.
Minimum of 8 years of related experience as a consultant in building science.
P.Eng. designation is preferred, but experienced practitioners with other professional designations will be considered.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including technical writing and presentation skills.
Excellent multi-tasking skills and adaptability to shifting priorities.
Strong organizational skills.
A team player approach to problem solving.
The successful candidate must possess a valid class G drivers license.
