This summer student opportunities are available within the Good Shepherd - Corporate Services - Administration

The IT Support Technician provides prompt technical support for hardware and software issues-including Windows 11-while documenting service requests, assisting with routine maintenance, and communicating effectively with both technical and non-technical users to ensure client satisfaction. The goal is to create value for clients that will help preserve the Good Shepherds reputation and business.


How You Will Make an Impact

  • Act as the first point of contact for technical support via phone or email, performing remote troubleshooting and escalating unresolved issues as needed.
  • Set up and maintain user accounts, mobile devices, and assist with onboarding using tools like MDM software and Manage Engine.
  • Communicate effectively with users, guiding them through problem-solving processes and providing accurate information on IT products and services.
  • Document and update service tickets, maintain clean workspaces, and contribute to internal knowledge through support documentation and feedback.
  • Collaborate with the team, suggest process improvements, and ensure follow-ups to maintain high-quality support.

What You'll Bring to Our Team

  • Current enrolment in (or graduate in 2025) Computer Science Program from an accredited University and/or community college.
  • Tech savvy with working knowledge of office automation products, and remote control
  • Good understanding of computer systems, mobile devices and other tech products
  • Ability to diagnose and resolve basic technical issues.
  • CPR certification or willingness to be certified is also required
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Uphold mission, vision and values with all staff and clients that you may interact with.
  • Observe all Good Shepherd health and safety rules.

Hiring Criteria - the following criteria is established by Canada Summer Job:

This temporary full-time position is funded by Service Canada for youth between the ages of 15 to 30 years of age.

  • Applicants may be more than 30 years of age at the end of the employment period as long as they were 30 at the beginning of the employment period.
  • Have a valid Social Insurance Number at the start of employment and be legally entitled to work according to the relevant provincial or territorial legislation and regulations.
  • As per the Summer Canada Jobs Program criteria:
    • International students are not eligible participants. International students include anyone who is temporarily in Canada for studies and who is not a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person who has been granted refugee status in Canada.
    • Youth awaiting a refugee status ruling, as well as those who hold a temporary visitor visa, youth visa or work visa are ineligible.
