JOB SUMMARY:
In this dynamic, fast-paced environment, the Production Supervisor is responsible for supervising employees and maintaining production and quality levels while maintaining a continuous improvement focus in a manufacturing/production environment.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provide leadership and develop FPI employees in a manner consistent with FPI mission and guiding principles; ensuring employees have the tools and environment to meet their objectives, remain effective and feel appreciated
- Lead, manage and maintain a positive environment focusing on Lean Manufacturing strategies and continuous improvement initiatives
- Supervise employees in a manufacturing/production union environment
- Maintain production levels as specified on weekly schedules
- Responsible for the consistent quality of product and assembly processes
- Work order reporting and maintenance on a daily basis
- Maintain and communicate departmental KPI's
- Ensure employees have resources needed to do their job
- Process improvements in assembly and material handling
- Training and performance measurement of new and existing employees
- Work cell / Assembly line balancing, Standardized Work and cross training of employees
- Maintain professional business relationships across all departments to create an efficient information channel; share information and keep other informed of important developments
- Implementation and training of Health & Safety programs to ensure compliance with regulations; set a positive example by following regulations, including wearing appropriate personal protective equipment and maintaining hazard awareness
- Deal with union related issues when required
- Involvement with product introduction to shop floor / assembly lines
- Maintain a current knowledge of product, design and assembly techniques
- Coordinate workflow with other departments and shifts
- Assist with and support team projects and duties as required
QUALIFICATIONS & SPECIFICATIONS:
Abilities/Skills/Knowledge
- Effective organizational, prioritization and time management skills
- Ability to take initiative and follow through until completion
- Strong communication skills in English (both written and verbal)
- Ability to develop and maintain good working relationship with management and employees
- Demonstrated experience developing effective teams
Education/Training:
- Minimum High School Graduate or equivalent
- Courses in Operations Management, Supervision, Leadership or related an asset
- Lean Manufacturing training preferred
Experience:
- Minimum 5-8 years of experience in Supervision in a Manufacturing/Production environment (or equivalent combination of education, training & experience)
- Previous experience working in a union environment would be an asset
- Experience with Lean concepts, 5S practices, team building and continuous improvement tools

- The salary being offered for this position is $67,600-$84,500 per year.
