We are looking for a Vocational Support Worker to join our team!

Reporting to the Manager, Recovery West, the Vocational Support Worker will provide vocational assessment and support to individuals with mental health concerns. They will carry an individual case load as well as creating, implementing, and facilitating groups and activities within Recovery West, with a focus on employment readiness and career building.

Status: Permanent full-time, 37.5 hours per week (Flexibility between 8 AM - 8 PM); Note this posting is for an active vacancy.

Salary: $61,201.01 - $72,001.19 annually.(Candidate qualifications will be considered when determining the starting salary)


Location:This position is based out of our 601-7700 Hurontariooffice. Although we operate within a hybrid workplace model, staff are required to have on-site and/or community presence as per program and client needs.

What You Will Do:

  • Conduct vocational assessment and assist clients to develop goals for employment using one-to-one and group sessions.
  • Utilize tools such as aptitude assessments to assist clients in creating individual vocational plans
  • Provide coaching for job readiness skills, job search strategies, and job retention skills
  • Support clients in developingempowerment skills and combating stigma through self-advocacy
  • Manage a caseload including regular re-assessments and caseload reviews
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge base of employment and labour market trends
  • Collaborate with clients and the multi-disciplinary team to establish Recovery Plans which guide mutual work towards client recovery.
  • Facilitate groups as part of CMHA PDs multi-disciplinary team, including the creation of new groups and act as a back-up facilitator
  • Refer and link clients to community resources and groups that support vocational goals
  • Participate inregular staff meetings and care planning to provide the vocational expertise for client care
  • Support with other duties as required.

What You Need to Join Our Team:

  • Post-secondary degree or diploma in relevant discipline, training and/or experience in Vocational Rehabilitation
  • Being a registered and / or regulated health professional is an asset
  • Minimum 2 years experience in Vocational Rehabilitation with individuals experiencing complex barriers to employment
  • Demonstrate crisis intervention skills for both telephone and in-person situations
  • Knowledge and/or experience working with the following systems is an asset:
    • ODSP
    • Ontario Works
    • CPP
    • Disability insurance providers
  • Demonstrate self-motivation to function as part of an interprofessional multidisciplinary team
  • Well developed and professional presentation and workshop facilitation skills in working with clients, employers, and external partners
  • Conduct assessments and coordinate services that are recovery-oriented based on need
  • Strong interpersonal skills with proven ability to approach, listen, build trust, and communicate across diverse cultures and intersectionality. Willingness to continually improve understanding around cultural competence.
  • Openness to operate from an anti-racist, anti-oppressive, 2SLGBTQ+ affirming and intersectional framework.
  • Willingness to learn and apply practical understanding of different elements of diversity, such as gender identity/expression, race/cultural background, religion, sexual orientation, disability, immigration and precarious status, family status, etc.
  • Fluency in a second language, including ASL (American Sign Language) is considered an asset.
  • Valid Canadian drivers license and access to an insured automobile in good repair.
  • A satisfactory Vulnerable Sector Screening (Police Check) report.
