Overall Responsibility
Managing all aspects of electrical design for projects within the organization's field. The Electrical Technologist provides solutions to technical problems and is responsible for job planning and quality production. This position is accountable for the processes of design, testing and continuous development of electrical equipment, components and systems as assigned.

Accountabilities:
Engineering
Implement continuous improvement projects.
Maintain PLC, PanelView, Robots and Servo drive controls, program upgrades and back-ups.
Prepare and maintain all required documentation on equipment (PLC, PanelView, Robots and Servo drives).
Prepare and update electrical drawings on AutoCAD.
Determine PLC and Electronics training requirements for employees and deliver required training.
Interact with Production, Maintenance, Quality and Engineering department personnel.
Provide training to co-workers and help maintain Standard Operating Procedures, Best Practices and Job Safe Practices to ensure the transfer of knowledge to others.
Assist with continual improvement of manufacturing processes.
Assist with planning and implementation of changes to machinery and equipment.
Provide PLC controls and programming knowledge and skills to support all aspects of operations.
Recommend measures to improve production methods, equipment performance, and quality of product.
Other
Fulfill all Health and Safety & Environmental responsibilities as identified in the Canadian HSE Management Standards, OHSAS 18001, and ISO 14001 Management Systems.
Ensure QMS conforms to the requirements identified in IATF 16949 and AMTB Process Map.
Fulfill all responsibilities as identified in the Employee Handbook.
Other duties as assigned.
Education
Electrical Engineering or equivalent


Other minimum requirements
Proficient in Microsoft Office
Advanced AutoCAD R14 experience
Advanced electronics/electrical troubleshooting abilities
Advanced experience in PLC's and programming (ie. Siemens and Allen Bradley)


Personal Skills
Strong written and oral communication skills
Proven ability to achieve results
Proactive in learning and development activities
Proven ability to work with and develop people
