Job Summary
Reporting directly to the Construction Manager, the Construction Labourer is responsible to perform manual work to support construction activities.
The incumbent will conduct all activities in a manner that supports the mission, vision and values of CILTD, as well as adherence to all established Policies and Procedures.
This permanent full-time hourly position is based on forty (40) hours weekly.Additional hours may be required in order to meet Company and/or Client requirements.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Perform construction activities under thedirection and supervision of the Construction Team Lead;
- Operate various types of tools and equipment in a safe and productive manner;
- Ensure daily pre and post trip inspections are completed accurately;
- Read blueprints and drawings;
- Maintain work records and logs;
- Transport construction materials;
- Perform various civil construction activities;
- Operate and maintain construction equipment;
- Report all incidents, damage and near-misses immediately;
- Work cohesively with teams of employees or contractors;
- Communicate with customers in a polite and courteous manner;
- Complete reports to record issues and work performed; and,
- Other relatable duties as required.
Qualifications
- Grade twelve (12) Diploma or General Educational Diploma GED equivalency is required;
- Minimum two (2) years of relatable experienceas a labourer in the civil earthworks or construction industry is required;
- Valid Class 5 Alberta Drivers License, along with a clean five (5) year drivers abstract is required;
- Proven experience with building roads are preferred;
- Ability to identify hazards and complete risk assessments;
- Ability to interpret survey layout would be an asset;
- Trailer towing experience is preferred;
- Proven ability to operate and maintain construction equipment in a safe and responsible manner;
- Proven ability to follow direction, work independently and as part of a team;
- Knowledge of specific materials, methods, tools and equipment required to complete various construction work tasks;
- Demonstrated ability to prioritize and organize job responsibilities in a fast-paced work environment;
- Attention to detail and reliability in recording and documenting;
- Excellent interpersonal skills to build and maintain working relationships with supervision and clients;
- Must have excellent communication skills in written and spoken English; and,
- Must be legally eligible to work in Canada.
