We are recruiting for a Controller. This is and in-person role to work from our office in Winnipeg, Manitoba.

Reporting to the Vice President Operations, the Controller will oversee the finance department for our operations across Canada, while working closely with the management team. The Controller directs the accounting and control functions of the company while ensuring timely reporting of operating results.

Role and Responsibilities:

• Prepares monthly financial statement packages including comparison to budget and analysis and presents to the executive and ownership team.
• Development of annual budget with analysis and recommendations.
• Manages cashflow and cash requirements and the oversight of accounts payable and accounts receivable.
• Oversees the preparation of payroll and benefits and ensures compliance with employment standards in each province.
• Maintains year-end working papers and spreadsheets and leads the preparation for any audits or independent reviews.
• Capital project accounting/cost monitoring; provides financial reports in support of decision making.
• Leads relationships with external partners including insurance, banking and legal.
• Ensures all accounting records and tax documentation are properly maintained and secured and that all statuary and fiscal reporting requirements are satisfied, which includes any government requirements.
• Assists in maintaining policy and procedure documentation for financial and accounting issues.

Qualifications:

• University degree in Accounting;
• Holds a CPA designation;
• Has a minimum of 5 years post certification experience;
• Has experience in Finance Department Leadership.

Knowledge and Skills:

• Excellent and effective communication skills, both verbal and written
• Good understanding of accounting systems, strong hands-on IT skills.
• High level of proficiency using Microsoft Excel and Word
• Proven leadership, problem-solving and analytical skills
• Ability to multi-task and prioritize competing deadlines.
