Job Summary
Reporting to the HSE Manager, the Health and Safety Coordinator will support the organization by organizing, facilitating, and delivering health and safety training programs across all company departments. This role plays a key part in promoting a strong safety culture by ensuring that employees are equipped with the knowledge and tools necessary to perform their duties safely and in compliance with regulatory requirements and internal policies.
Responsibilities
- Collaborates frequently with HSE and departments Managers to identify training requirements for employees.
- Manages external training monitoring system to comply with contract requirements, including maintaining, organizing and inputting accurate training documentation into ISN and adhering to contract requirements.
- Manages the overall training matric, administers, scores, and logs results of qualification, learning assessment, and retention tests; arranges retraining or other appropriate action for insufficient scores.
- Coordination of sub-contractor compliance including the coordination of service provider certifications and training requirements.
- Researches, identifies, and evaluates which training programs are required and/or beneficial based on need.
- Plans, organizes, and effectively conducts employee training on various skill, policy, and compliance areas.
- Facilitates individual and group orientations for employees, clients, and contractors.
- Collaborates with outside consultants and training providers to facilitate the delivery of training by reserving space, setting up audiovisual equipment and training rooms, scheduling training times with attendees, preparing and distributing training resources, and performing other related tasks.
- Maximizes training opportunities for Simpcw members, including ensuring training commitments are implemented.
- Designs, drafts, proposes and/or acquires new training materials, evaluates, and modifies internal existing programs.
- Provide administrative support to the Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) team.
- Performs other related duties, as required.
Requirements
- Minimum of two (2) years of experience in related field preferred.
- Post secondary education in adult learning/education or another related field would be an asset
- Intermediate in the use of Excel, specifically charts, complex formulas and formatting.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, including Word, PowerPoint, Outlook and Teams.
- Experience with ISN considered an asset.
- Demonstrated experience in the design and delivery of presentations to varying sizes of audience.
- Experience with variety of multimedia training platforms and methods is an asset.
- Demonstrated ability to establish effective and cooperative working relationships with a variety of stakeholders.
- Strong attention to detail with excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Experience working with First Nations people is valued.
- Knowledge of the Simpcw First Nations community is valued.
