The Opportunity:

We are seeking a dynamic and passionate individual to join our high-performing People & Culture (P&C) team in Western Canada. As the People & Culture Business Partner – Canada Operations (P&C BP), you will collaborate with a team of dedicated P&C professionals to provide strategic guidance and support to leaders within Parkland's teams.
With enthusiasm and energy, you will be a key advocate for employee engagement, development, and performance. You will advise and support the business on People & Culture matters throughout the employee lifecycle while contributing to impactful initiatives and projects. This role will focus on supporting the Retail & Commercial Operations teams across Western Canada.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop a deep understanding of the client's business, strategy, and annual objectives.
  • Leverage data and analysis to assess talent and employee relations challenges, using insights to design fact-based, effective solutions.
  • Collaborate with leaders and their teams to address business, talent, and employee relations issues.
  • Partner with the P&C Centers of Excellence (COEs) to tackle challenges in talent acquisition, compensation and benefits, employee development, and performance management.
  • Oversee the implementation of annual P&C programs, such as Performance Management and Succession Planning.
  • Lead the execution of P&C policy, program, and system changes, ensuring seamless alignment with employee and leader needs.
  • Work with internal P&C stakeholders and business partners to establish a diverse and inclusive workforce through robust recruitment, onboarding, and orientation processes.
  • Promote an employee-focused, high-performance culture centered on customer service, empowerment, quality, productivity, and goal achievement.
  • Provide coaching and guidance to frontline and mid-level managers on proactive leadership, effectively implementing P&C programs in areas like change management, learning and development, individual development planning, and succession.
  • Offer support and coaching on employee performance issues, including facilitating terminations, when necessary, in a constructive and professional manner.

Requirements:

  • A University degree and/or a Diploma in Human Resources with relevant experience, ideally working towards or holding a CPHR designation.
  • A seasoned Business Partner with 5+ years of progressive experience and demonstrated growth within the human resources profession.
  • A fully engaged, enthusiastic team player focused on achieving positive outcomes while pragmatically preparing for contingencies and alternatives in a dynamic, growth-oriented company.
  • Exceptional communication skills with a proven ability to build and maintain positive relationships across all levels.
  • Adept at fostering trust-based relationships grounded in mutual respect and confidentiality, particularly when addressing ethical or sensitive matters.

Travel requirements

  • Willingness to travel across Canada primarily in Western Canada.

  • The ability to manage multiple priorities and adapt to changing tasks effectively, supported by strong writing, verbal, and presentation skills.
  • Keen attention to detail and a commitment to delivering high-quality work consistently.
  • Collaboration with internal experts to design, implement, and refine People & Culture programs that meet business needs.
  • Capacity to support team initiatives and programs, ensuring successful rollouts and alignment with organizational objectives.
