The Opportunity:
The Manager, Talent Management is responsible for developing and executing enterprise-wide talent strategies that enhance leadership capability, succession planning, and team effectiveness. This role ensures the organization has a strong leadership pipeline and talent development framework by overseeing leadership programs, talent planning cycles, and external partnerships. By providing thought leadership and strategic insights, the Manager partners closely with People & Culture Business Partners (PCBPs) and senior leaders to align talent initiatives with business priorities. Additionally, the role leads and develops the Talent Management team, ensuring seamless program execution while driving long-term organizational growth.
Responsibilities:
Leadership Development & Team Effectiveness- Deliver leadership development across all levels and lead the Program Manager in executing frontline leadership programs. The Manager will directly design, implement, and sustain leadership development initiatives for senior management and above, ensuring alignment with organizational strategy.
- Leverage data insights to assess program effectiveness, identify trends, and recommend improvements to leadership development initiatives.
- Develop and execute team effectiveness strategies to strengthen collaboration and performance.
- Oversee and integrate coaching, assessments and complementary programs.
- Ensure all programs incorporate BOLD leadership competencies, align with Parkland values, and support diversity, inclusion, and continuous improvement.
- Partner with key stakeholders i.e. People & Culture business partners, subject matter experts and applicable leaders to ensure program delivery is aligned with and meets the needs of the business.
- Provide facilitation services for leadership development and team effectiveness sessions.
- Oversee the enterprise talent planning cycle, ensuring a structured approach to assessing and developing high-potential talent including succession planning, talent review and individual development planning.
- Maintain and update the succession plan make plan to ensure robust leadership pipelines.
- Partner with People & Culture Business Partners (PCBPs) to integrate individual development plans (IDPs) for all leaders and high potential employees and successors.
- Partner with Total Rewards to execute the Annual Incentive Plan (AIP) process, providing programmatic support and services i.e. leader, employee communication plans, training and toolkits.
- Offer thought leadership on talent trends and best practices to enhance organizational capability.
- Use internal and leverage external analytics to diagnose talent and succession gaps and deliver tailored talent strategies.
- Provide facilitation services to support the delivery of talent planning programs.
- Manage the coaching program, ensuring leaders have access to high quality coaching opportunities.
- Manage the 360-assessment processes including internal and external assessments i.e. BOLD 360, Hogan 360 and coaching provider 360.
- Manage relationships with post-secondary institutions, simulation, coaching and assessment vendors to support learning and development.
- Lead the talent management team (Talent Analyst and Program Manager).
- Act as a strategic partner to People & Culture Business Partners and leaders demonstrating strong HR acumen and the ability to speak the language of talent and business strategy.
- Develop, communicate and report on the Talent Management budget to key stakeholders.
- Travel as required to support talent programs, facilitation and leadership engagement.
Requirements:
- Minimum 15 years' experience in talent management; preference for experience in a large retail and/or supply and trading organization.
- Previous experience as People & Culture Business Partner (PCBP) or in a similar HR role with a strong understanding of the intersection of talent and business strategies.
- Demonstrated ability to partner with senior leaders and PCBPs to assess talent gaps, build development strategies and align talent initiatives with business goals.
- Ability to automate and optimize talent processes, ensuring efficiency in talent reviews, development tracking, and reporting.
- Strong facilitation and presentation skills, able to lead executive-level discussions, talent reviews, and training sessions.
- Demonstrated ability to drive change management initiatives, ensuring adoption of new talent programs and frameworks.
- Agility to work in a fast-paced, evolving environment, managing ambiguity while implementing innovative talent solutions.
- Willingness to travel as required to support talent programs, facilitation, and stakeholder engagement.
