Description

Your role at GEI. The successful candidate, under the direction of a senior civil engineer, will be responsible for supporting engineering analysis and design for a variety of municipal servicing, linear infrastructure and infrastructure planning projects. GEI is seeking aspiring professionals who have a positive impact on GEI's Civil team and are interested in working collaboratively with a talented team of design, management, and technical leaders on a wide range of infrastructure planning, renewal, design and construction projects. This position will support GEI's Civil practice in our Markham, Ontario office, which provides services in a wide range of settings. Essential Responsibilities & Duties
  • Support the development of civil engineering design for municipal linear infrastructure including watermains, sanitary sewer, forcemains, storm sewer, outfalls and roads.
  • Design site civil design including grading, yard piping, and driveway access.
  • Collaborate with other design disciplines.
  • Support the permitting and approvals processes.
  • Support management of construction activities and provide field support services (including survey and inspection).
  • Prepare preliminary and detailed designs reports.
  • Assist with the preparation of tender packages and construction cost estimates.
  • Support work to complete Area Servicing Plans in support of Secondary Plans, Block Plans and other large-scale development areas;
  • Assisting with delivery of other civil projects supporting our Land Development, Structural, Linear or Water/Wastewater design teams, as required
Minimum Qualifications
  • Enrolment in a Civil Engineering program at an accredited University
  • Desire to work on Civil design and/or field experience
  • Strong organizational, oral, written communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to objectively to evaluate problems and opportunities.
  • Experience with CAD (Civil 3D/MicroStation/etc.) and/or GIS (ArcMap/QGIS/etc.) is considered an asset.
  • Motivation continuously to learn, broaden experience and to enhance engineering knowledge and qualifications.
