Who We Are
The Mikisew Cree First Nation (Mikisew) has lived on the ancestral lands of the Athabasca Delta and Wood Buffalo National Park in northeastern Alberta since time immemorial. The lives of our members are linked to the land and to a close understanding of traditions, history and a natural way of life. Many of our members live in the hamlet of Fort Chipewyan, and our traditional lands range over a large portion of Athabasca oil sands deposits.
Who You Are
We are seeking a highly organized, proactive, and professional Executive Assistant to provide high-level administrative support to the Director of Mikisew Awasis Kisiwatsowin Society. This is a pivotal role that helps ensure the smooth operation of the directorate by managing schedules, communications, and key projects. The ideal candidate will be passionate about supporting services that improve the lives of children and families.
This position is in Fort McMurray, AB.
Roles & Responsibilities:
- Provide comprehensive administrative support to the Director including daily scheduling, email handling, and meeting preparation.
- Coordinate and organize internal and external meetings, including minute-taking and action follow-up.
- Draft and proofread correspondence, reports, presentations, and briefing documents.
- Support the coordination and tracking of projects, performance targets, and key deadlines within the agency.
- Organize travel and accommodation arrangements when necessary.
- Monitor and manage sensitive and confidential information with discretion.
- Act as a point of contact for inquiries directed to the Directors office, providing professional and timely responses.
- Undertake other administrative tasks and project support duties as required.
Qualifications
- Proven experience as an Executive Assistant, Administrative Assistant, or similar role with a minimum of 2 years experience.
- High school diploma is required.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills; ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive matters with discretion.
- Experience in a public sector, education, or childrens services environment is highly desirable.
- Experience working knowledge of First Nations culture, traditions and values is a definite asset.
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office products, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Compassionate and empathetic, with a strong understanding of the needs and sensitivities of children and families
- Ability to speak Cree or Dene is an asset.

- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Excel, Teams and virtual meeting platforms.
- Possess exceptional judgement and always maintain high confidentiality in all interactions.
- Must be reliable and be prepared to work irregular hours depending on job demands.
- Must sign Oath of Confidentiality form.
