Reporting to the Planning Superintendent, the Operational Road Planner will work individually and with a team of professionals responsible for all aspects of road and crossing planning.

You'll do:

• Develop road plans in challenging topography, engineering main road sections in RoadEng software
• Development of watercourse crossing site plans using scripted GIS tools
• Optimize trip cycle times for main planned road alignments
• Assist with DFO crossing applications
• Engage with the operations team on road alignment options
• Assist in supervision of construction of crossings on fish bearing water courses
• Contract management, contractor supervision, liaison with government officials and coordination of road layout
• Manage the crossing and road inspection program, and assist with inspections in the field
• Input road and crossing information into the filed apps and forestry database (LRM)
• Expect 50%+ office work to address GIS intensive work requirements

You have:

• Commitment to safety and responsible forest stewardship.
• Self-motivated and team oriented.
• Strong communication and organizational skills.
• Ability to conduct field work and comfortable doing so while working alone
• Certified for operating an UTV
• Demonstrated leadership in a group setting.
• Direct experience with planning haul roads, with understanding of construction techniques
• Competency using Microsoft 365, ArcMap, ArcGIS Pro, ESRI mobile apps, Global Mapper and RoadEng;
• Possess a Registered Professional Forester (RPF) or Registered Professional Forest Technologist (RPFT) designation for Alberta (or be eligible and willing to earn this designation).
