The Opportunity

TheRestaurant Managerwill be crucial to the continued growth of this well-established gourmet Italian restaurant. Reporting directly to the General Manager, the successful candidate will be a tenacious leader within the culinary industry and possess a true passion for quality, customer service and carrying on our Client's tradition of excellence.
This position would be an ideal fit for an experienced FOH Manager who thrives in a fast-paced environment, skilled at managing a diverse group of seasoned hospitality professionals. Required Experience and Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in front-of-house (FOH)Management, preferably within a high-end restaurant environment
  • Demonstrated Wine knowledge, WSET would be preferable, but not required
  • Post-secondary education in Business Administration, Hospitality or Culinary would be considered a significantasset
  • Full proficiency in MicrosoftOffice Suite
  • Confident with restaurant technology (POS/CRM/digital/online reservation systems and DoorDash)
  • Proven ability to multitask and make smart, fast decisions
  • Strong teamwork, leadership, and communication skills
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment
  • Complete fluency in the English language; both written and verbal


Responsibilities of the Position

CUSTOMER SERVICE

  • Maintain an active presence on the floor during each service to maximize efficiencies and promote an exceptional customer experience while maximizing capacity
  • Positively represent the brand through the creation of a warm, inviting environment for both customers and staff alike
  • Establishrapport with customers during service to not only build the brand but foster repeat business
  • Address any customer concerns that may arise during service in a timely, professional manner

HUMAN RESOURCES

  • Actively participate in the hiring process for FOH staff
  • Ensure service staff are adequately trained on all restaurant information; including policies, procedures, and menu
  • Inspire, coach, and mentor junior team members
  • Build and maintain professional relationships at all levels within the team
  • Facilitate team meetings at the beginning of each service to set goals and priorities for the day
  • Evaluate performance on the fly; providing constructive feedback, accountability, and discipline, as required
  • Fair delegation of duties throughout service to ensure dining room cleanliness is maintained at all times

OPERATIONS & ADMINISTRATION

  • Active participation in the growth of the business through regular assessment of policies and procedures; offering recommendations on needed improvements as they are identified
  • Problem Solving: Make smart decisions based on what is best for the customer and the brand
  • Create FOH schedules, ensuring close attention is paid to budgets, staff availability, and special events
  • Make staff cuts during service, when required, to ensure daily labour percentages are in line
  • Weekly payroll sheet review
  • Facilitate weekly orders for FOH supplies, includingwine/liquor, bar supplies, menus, placements,paper products, flatware, dinnerware, glassware, etc.
  • Participate in weekly, monthly and annual inventory counts; tracking all information in Excel.
