About this Role
The Development Coordinator will support the real estate development process from concept through approvals and construction. Based in our downtown Ottawa office, the Coordinator will provide administrative and coordination support to team members and third-party consultants. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, proactive, and eager to learn and grow within the development field.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the development team with administrative tasks, documentation, and project coordination for residential and retail developments.
  • Assist with scheduling and organizing project meetings with architects, consultants, and internal stakeholders.
  • Help prepare and update project schedules, reports, and tracking documents.
  • Maintain accurate project files and logs including budgets, timelines, and consultant deliverables.
  • Coordinate and compile documentation required for development applications and submissions.
  • Assist in preparing meeting agendas, taking minutes, and distributing follow-up notes and action items.
  • Aid in preparing presentations, proposals, and reports for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Help organize site visits and support coordination between field and office teams.
  • Conduct research to assist in due diligence and feasibility assessments for potential development properties.
  • Support with consultant coordination by tracking deliverables and ensuring timely submissions.
  • Participate in process improvement efforts to enhance development workflows.

Education and Experience Requirements

  • 13 years of experience in land development, construction, real estate development, or related fields.
  • Post-secondary education in architecture, engineering, urban planning, or a related discipline.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint); experience with AutoCAD, Photoshop, and MS Project is an asset.
  • Strong report writing skills and experience preparing memos, updates, and project documents to support continuity.
  • Familiarity with design and construction processes, including coordination with consultants and contractors.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills with strong attention to detail.
  • Strong communication and customer service skills, with the ability to build and maintain stakeholder relationships.
  • Ability to read and interpret drawings, question proposals, and manage multiple priorities.
  • Experience with retail developments or concrete high-rise construction is an asset.
  • Knowledge of construction management, construction practices, and the Ontario Building Code is an asset.
  • Understanding of commercial, office, and retail leases and contracts is an asset.
  • Valid drivers license and ability to travel locally.

Physical/Sensory Effort/Work Environment:

  • Working primarily in an office environment, there will also be work in a construction environment related to site inspections and monitoring, including working outdoors.
  • Provide service to multiple people or departments, working under many simultaneous deadlines.
  • Willingness to be mobile as the role requires work to be performed primarily in the office but also on-site.
  • Overtime may be required on an occasional basis in order to meet the changing demands of the project(s).
