The QA/QC Assistant is responsible for overseeing operational quality assurance, ensuring that products produced meet the objectives for quality, safety, and customer expectations in accordance with the Cannabis Act and relevant regulations. The QA/QC Assistant will advise on, establish, and monitor Quality Management Systems, and coordinate activities to meet production process and product quality standards.
What You Will be Doing
- Conduct activities associated with verification, inspection, testing, and release of incoming materials, ingredients, raw materials, in-process controls, sampling, packaging, and labelling components
- Ensure the facility is in full compliance with applicable regulations and are always audit-ready and applying quality practices
- Timely review, follow-up on, closure, and approval of various quality documents
- Initiate, review, and follow-up on nonconformance's, change controls, deviations, and CAPAs to ensure timely processing and closing
- Collaborate with production teams to identify and resolve quality issues
- Coordinating and participating in regular self-inspection
- Develop, review, maintain, train, and implement SOPs and Quality Management Programs and projects to compliance under the Cannabis Act/Regulations and GPP standards across the facility
- Prepare documentation necessary to report to management and regulation bodies, including Health Canada inventory reporting and CRA excise duty reporting
- Establish and maintain Quality record-keeping systems and ensure employee adherence to proper documentation practices
- Conduct testing on product before release for sale with validated methods, investigating deviations and out of spec results
- Develop and perform internal audits regularly to determine quality assurance compliance according to Cannabis Regulations, and for internal annual review
- Promote an environment that encourages collaboration and compliance
- Keep abreast of industry trends and regulations

What You Bring to the Team
- Valid Health Canada security clearance
- Degree or diploma in Chemistry, Biology, Pharmacology or Food Science
- 1-2 years in Quality Assurance in the Cannabis Industry
- Proficient in ERP, eQMS, MS Office Suite or other software
- Experience with GACP, EU-GMP, cGMP, GAP, GLP, HACCP, ISO or FDA is a plus
- Multitasking and pro-active
- Good communication: verbal and written
- Good time management
- Able to work alone and in a team
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills
- Strong knowledge of lab testing methods and quality assurance protocols
