The Loader and Excavator Operator is responsible for operating various types of heavy machinery safely and efficiently. They must ensure that all operations are in compliance with safety regulations and specifications. The role demands precision, attention to detail, and adherence to safety protocols to effectively contribute to VSGs success.

Your day-to-day will look like:

• Operate heavy equipment such as loaders and excavators in accordance with safety practices and procedures.
• Perform daily pre-trip inspections and maintenance checks on equipment and report any defects or needed repairs to the supervisor.
• Complete daily hazard assessments and identify controls
• Follow proper start-up and shutdown procedures
• Collaborate with ground personnel and other operators to ensure safe and efficient task completion.
• Participate in daily toolbox meetings and complete role specific training.
• Communicate effectively with the team to coordinate operations and minimize disruptions.

You have the following qualifications, technical and interpersonal skills:

Qualifications:

• Years of experience: Minimum 5 years
  
• Education: High School or Equivalent
  
• Aggregate and/or marine industry experience is an asset
  

Technical Skills:

• Operate with precision, efficiency, and safety.
• Ability to perform routine maintenance and simple repairs on equipment.
• Blind spot and spatial awareness.
• Understand load stability and limitations of machine.
  

Interpersonal Skills:

• Strong communication skills to effectively work with team members and supervisors.
• Ability to remain focused and productive in a high-pressure environment.
• Problem-solving skills and the ability to adapt to changing job site conditions.
• Commitment to safety and a proactive approach to identifying and mitigating potential hazards.
