About the Role

Are you experienced in navigating the complex landscape of rail corridor safety and coordination? Join Egis Canada as a Rail Corridor Access Coordinator, where you'll play a pivotal role in ensuring the safe and seamless delivery of construction activities within active rail corridors. This role is essential to the success of high-profile infrastructure projects, bridging communication between contractors, project teams, and railway operators.

Working closely with Metrolinx and other key stakeholders, you'll be responsible for planning and securing safe access to rail corridors, managing flagging services, and minimizing disruptions to both transit operations and construction progress. From preparing work plans to leading safety checks and emergency coordination, this role offers the opportunity to directly contribute to some of Ontario's most transformative projects.

We are currently seeking a Rail Corridor Access Coordinator to support active projects within the GO Expansion Program.

As a Rail Corridor Access Coordinator, you'll be at the heart of rail infrastructure delivery, supporting some of the most exciting and complex transportation projects in the province.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Coordinate access times with Metrolinx, project teams, and contractors to ensure minimal disruption to ongoing construction operations.
  • Liaise with the MX Operations team and regulatory bodies to ensure all access meets timeline, process, and safety requirements.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact with the NOC during emergencies, facilitating incident response and reporting.
  • Coordinate daily with Railway Flaggers and project staff to align construction activities and ensure flagging support.
  • Conduct pre-work inspections within the rail corridor to identify and mitigate safety risks that could lead to job delays or cancellations.
  • Enforce safety standards and protocols for all access activities within the rail corridor and at transit stations.
  • Prepare and submit WPMTs and risk assessments to avoid delays in corridor access approvals.
  • Schedule Railway Flaggers through NAPT and ensure requests are submitted accurately and on time.
  • Maintain thorough records of access schedules, permits, and compliance documentation.
  • Provide stakeholders with regular reports on access-related activities, risks, and resolutions.
  • Proactively identify and resolve access-related conflicts impacting project execution or rail operations.
  • Develop and manage detailed access schedules to meet both project and rail operational requirements.
  • Conduct daily site checks to ensure safety, quality, and environmental standards are maintained.
Qualifications
  • University degree or College diploma in Civil or Structural Engineering.
  • Minimum of 5 years experience on railway construction projects.
  • Demonstrated experience preparing access requests and work plans for rail corridor construction.
  • Registered as EIT or P. Eng. with the PEO, or OACETT designation as RCSI (or eligible within 6 months).
  • Strong problem-solving, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Proactive, collaborative mindset with a commitment to safety and regulatory compliance.
  • Valid driver's license with access to a vehicle with current registration and insurance.
  • Ability to work flexible hours and travel to project sites within the Greater Toronto Area.
