Opportunity Overview
Dessert Holdings is looking for a Regional EHS Manager to be based at our London, ON facility with oversight of four facilities in the U.S. and Canada (Ontario, British Columbia, Massachusetts, and Minnesota). The Regional EHS Manager reports directly to the SVP of Manufacturing and promotes safety, safe work practices, and environmental stewardship as well as providing oversight of the EHS program & regulatory requirements with the objective of minimizing accidents, injuries, and environmental impact. The individual will design, implement, and manage programs, policies, and procedures to meet company and regulatory standards. Additionally, the Regional EHS Manager is responsible for ensuring compliance with company and regulatory requirements while keeping accurate documentation of all activities related to EHS initiatives.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Develop and implement health and safety policies, programs, and proceduresthat align with company standards and local and federal health and safety regulations, and support the sites in developingroadmaps to achieve EHS goals and initiatives.
- Ensure compliance with federal and state/provincial regulations by understanding existing and changing laws and rules, interpreting standards, enforcing adherence, and advising management on needed actions.
- Support the development of site EHS leaders by providing guidance, mentoring, collaboration, and training.
- Responsible for monitoring adherence to the company safety program by all Dessert Holdings employees and contractors.
- Collaborate with management team and key stakeholders to identify health and safety related needs for the site and ensure health and safety concerns are addressed and resolved in a timely manner
- Communicate with local authorities, agencies, and third-party agencies on regulatory compliance matters and complaint management.
- Maintain and monitor a system of incident investigations and workers compensations management, providing guidance regarding remedial action for accident prevention measures and guidance to reduce incidents of workers compensation claims. Identify areas for improvement.
- Responsible for reporting obligations as required by local, provincial, state, federal and corporate requirements and analyzing health and safety data to strengthen the Internal Responsibility System in each facility
- Review and analyze health and safety data and prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual reports to share with the management team.
- Collaborate with other Regional EHS leaders in sharing best practices with other DH facilities and support the execution of initiatives.
- Partners with Human Resources in workers compensation management.
- Other duties related to maintaining a safe work environment.
- 50% travel within North American
QUALIFICATIONS
- A Bachelor's degree or technical training in any safety-related field; a professional designation (e.g., CSP, CRSP) is preferred
- At least 5+ years of experience managing Health & Safety in a manufacturing setting. Multiple site responsibility preferred
- Thorough knowledge and understanding of local and federal regulations, and occupational health and safety standards (ANSI, CSA, etc.)
- Effective at interacting with regulatory agencies, facility leadership, plant personnel and legal counsel with knowledge of legal processes
- EHS auditing experience/certification is an asset
- Knowledge and experience in developing and implementing health and safety strategies, policies, and programs
- Strong communication skills (both verbal and written) to be an effective influencer at all levels and display effective leadership skills
- Proficiency with database applications and administration systems, specifically Microsoft Office
- Effective organizational skills
- Must be a HIGHLY MOTIVATED, service and team-oriented individual with an attention to detail effective managing self with little supervision self driven
