Position Summary
The Ontario Institute for Cancer Research (OICR) is seeking a talented Postdoctoral Fellow to participate in projects with the aim of discovery of potent small molecule modulators of drug target function towards development of therapeutics for various cancers. These projects include protein production and characterization, biophysical and biochemical assays, small molecule screening, and other related in vitro drug discovery processes in Prof. Masoud Vedadis lab at OICR in a team work environment. The target proteins include protein complexes and protein-protein interactions, protein degradation and DNA repair pathways. A few examples of the most recent publications from Vedadis lab are: PMIDs: 39580491, 36948210, 37749144, 37728236, 38104184.
This position is temporary, full-time for one (1) year with potential to renew for one (1) year.
Position Responsibilities
- Protein production and purification
- Biophysical and biochemical characterization of cancer drug targets
- Development of assays and optimization for high-throughput screening
- Employ various screening methods towards discovery of small molecule modulators of the function of the drug targets
- Work within a teamwork environment towards potent, selective and cell active small molecules for drug discovery
- Maintain meticulous records of experimental procedures and data
- Liaise effectively with multi-disciplinary team members (computational chemistry, medicinal chemistry, and ADME groups) within the Drug Discovery Program, with other OICR Research Programs, and with academic and industry collaborators
- Participate in team meetings, both internal and external
- Present results to internal and external audiences, and contribute to funding applications, as well as manuscripts for peer-reviewed journals
- Work effectively under pressure and tight timelines
- Adhere to all OICR safety guidelines and policies, strongly advocates safety to others
Qualifications
- Completion of a PhD degree within the last 5 years
- Experience in protein production
- Strong knowledge in protein biochemistry with significant experience in enzymology, binding assays, and protein biochemical and biophysical characterization
- Experience working with E3 ligases, and/or protein-protein interaction studies
- Excellent publication record
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
- Some exposure in small molecule screening and/or working with targeted families of proteins described above
